Keeping Up

'Lunch'

Selena's POV

The next day, Kendall was feeling a bit better so me her and Justin went out to lunch at Urth but Mason didn't want to tag along.

"I haven't been here in a while." I said as we sat on the tables placed outside with the engravings of 'Urth Caffe'.

"Yeah, I know." Justin replied as we all ordered our drinks and salads but Kendall still seemed a little down.

"Hey Ken, you okay?" I asked softly and she nodded, but I instantly knew she was lying.

"Yeah, yeah I'm fine." She said as the waiter brought our order and I took a sip from my green tea.

"So I talked to Scooter." Justin took a sip from his drink. "He says it will affect my career if I back down from the whole fake girlfriend thing."

"Oh." Was all I replied. Kendall looked at me weirdly for some reason also.

"So are you agreeing to his idea now?" She asked. "Because that's stupid. You have a family but your willing to lie to make out with other girls other than mom?"

"Ken, it's not like that. It's part of my career. Scooters my manager and he pretty much needs to manage me for this." Justin replied.

"Yeah, okay." She replied back sarcastically and I just stayed quiet, not wanting to make the tension more awkward and weird.

"Let's just change the subject." I decided to say and they both nodded as we started to eat.

"I talked to Jaden by the way." Justin told Kendall and she immediately looked up at him.

"What'd you say? Wait. What'd he say?" Kendall asked and fixed her posture on her chair.

"He said, and I quote. I never cheated, she just got the wrong idea." Justin said and Kendall scoffed.

"Yeah, sure." Kendall said as she excused herself and went to use the public bathrooms.

"So, Sel. Demi told me you were mad." Justin said and I rolled my eyes at how Demi blurted it out.

"I'm not mad. I could give two shits about what girls you kiss for Scooters ass for all I care." The words slipped out of my mouth.

"Woah now Sel, are you jealous?" Justin smirked and I rolled my eyes again.

"No Justin, I certainly am not jealous." I snapped and he raised his hands up in surrender.

"I said no." Justin said simply and I looked at him, confused. "To the fake girlfriend thing." He added.

"You said no? Why?" I questioned and looked at him weirdly as he shrugged.

"I think the amount of fame we get annoyed with now is enough. I don't want the press hurting this family anymore." Justin said. "I know I can't provide you a normal life but just know that I'm trying my best to make you all happy and safe." He added.

I looked at him. "Justin, why would you think we're not happy? We are happy and this family is doing great so thank you for trying hard but it's fine. I just don't want myself to also control you."

"You don't control me. I get it also. Why the fuck would I kiss other girls when I'm already in a happy position with somebody I love?" He questioned and I smiled.

"I love you too, doofus." I said and he chuckled, quickly reaching over the table and planting a kiss on my cheek as he sat back down and Kendall walked back in but left to a different table since surprisingly Jaden showed up.
