Chapter 55 - Getting Out

Erens POV

We run into a little closet and take a breather, I continue to wallow in self hate. I don't know what I was thinking bring them here, we were never ready....I was ignorant to even think that. Annie takes me out of the depressing thoughts.
"Come on we need to get out of here."
"Sasha must have saved our asses with Petra, thank god for that. Annie....I'm sorry for Bert-"
"Don't....it's to soon to apologize, lets just get everyone out of this hell."
I nod my head and look at the bullet wound in my leg, it hurts like hell but I got to keep pushing forward. Annie wraps a cloth around it and we take our knives and creep around each corner trying to find any Eldians with any weapons. We come across a group of them with AK-47's me and Annie sneak around them coming from the back. They aren't paying attention to anything around them so we take it upon ourselves to pounce on the ones in the back. Annie gets one in the neck and I get one in the back. I take his AK and fire at the rest of his friends killing each of them. Annie loads up her gun and we move around the facility trying to find our friends. I need to make sure Mikasa made it out okay.

Levi's POV

I made it out before the smoke cleared, I took a guys knife and that's all he seemed to have. I run around the building trying to find Mikasa or Eren I wonder if they made it out okay. While I run I come across a person in a hood and trench coat with a bow staff. They're just standing in the middle of the hallway.
"Get out of the way."
"I feel sorry for what happened to your friends."
Hmm, I collectively look at the girl while circling around her. Her stance is solid, nothing flawed.
"If your so sorry then move out of the way."
"I can't let you leave, trust me I don't kill people but I have to fight you."
"Then get ready for the fight of your life."
I twirl the knife around my fingers then hold it tight while running straight for the girl. Each attack I make she blocks it well, I duck under her swing and slice her chest. She moves back for a second but stays on guard for my next stab. My speed out ways her defense which is good, I charge forward making a jab at her face but she dodges it hitting my ankle with the staff, I crouch to the floor then duck under the swing for my head and back flip away from her.
"You're definitely strong, so why exactly are you fighting with the Eldians?"
"They took me in when no one else would, I don't follow their rules of killing but I do except fighting for your life. But something I don't understand is if you have the opportunity to let someone live why don't you?"
"....why let them live?"
"Because isn't all life precious in a way? We don't have to become monsters to get a point across."
"Tell that to your boss."
"I don't agree with what he did, but I except it for the sake of staying here. The real question is could you let someone live even if they did the worst thing imaginable to you?"
I stand there in silence until I hear another alarm go off, enough chit chatting I need to leave now.
"Please, I need to find my friends."
"....don't make me regret it."
She stands aside and let's me walk by, I run passed her but ask her one last thing.
"What's your name miss?"
"Pieck, I already know you Mr.Ackerman."
I look at her confused but continue sprinting to a never ending destination. When I go around a corner I see everyone except Eren and Annie. They don't seem to be with the group. I run over to them and their crouched behind a lot of crates. When I go to them I hug Mikasa tight and that's when I feel the bullet wound in my shoulder, that hurt like hell.
"Where's Eren and Annie?"
"No one knows but we have to find them before we leave."
"Yeah, where's the gun shots coming from?"
Then I think about...Armin and Krista. We need to head there now. Then I hear gun shots coming from the side of us, I take a peak and see Eren and Annie guns blazing running through the hall.

Erens POV

We run through the main hall taking out as many people as possible without getting shot. Then I see all of my friends, I make it over to them and they grab the guns from the dead bodies. I kiss Mikasa on the head and we walk through the doors and straight to Armins area, the alarm must have been for them because there's a lot of gun fire. We go through the shadows and gunning anyone that we saw, when we finally make it to Armin I see him Krista and Ymir shooting all around them. Krista's the only one with a fully automatic gun. I go to Armin while we cover each other from the horde of people around us.
"What happened?"
"One of the hostages broke free and set an alarm, Ymir saved me from one and that's when they all swarmed us."
"Okay well we're leaving now let's get the hell out of here."
I wave everyone back and we go straight for the vans. Me, Levi, Reiner, Connie, Ymir and Mikasa cover us from the back. We continue the shooting until and running until we saw Eld gunned to the floor, we all continue shooting on with anger in our eyes. While Levi and Petra hop into the first van and Reiner and Jean go into the second one, I see Zeke out of the corner of my eye. I aim my AK at him and shoot him in the arm but it's not the one with his gun. He aims and shoots, I'm not affected but....I see Armin fall to the floor with blood spewing out of his chest.
"ARMIN!"
I scream with tears in my eyes as I pick him up and put him in the van while Annie and Mikasa cover me. We take off with Reiner follow behind us. I hold Armin on the floor and tears fall from my face.
"PETRA GET BACK HERE AND SAVE HIM!"
She runs to the back and holds the first aid putting bandages on his chest and clearing away the blood. Mikasa helps her while Annie pulls me away from it all.
"Eren....Eren.....Eren...."
Annie's voice gets dimmer and dimmer as I look at my hands and see the blood across it. I look down at my friend and cry.
"I'm sorry."
