-Lance's POV-

"Lance! Cover me!" Keith roared as he shot off towards the Galra Soldiers. I whirled around and shot towards the incoming Galra soldiers. I grunted as I dodged a bullet, quickly firing my Bayard and striking the soldier square in the chest. I kept shooting, and the Galra dropped to the floor with holes littering their chests and heads. "Lance! Let's move!" Keith yelled from behind me. I ran around the corner, diving behind a pillar as shots were fired at me. "Quiznak." I growled. I couldn't get a clear shot. I took a deep breath and did the unthinkable.

I ran straight into the line of fire, hoisting up my Bayard and aiming at the shooters.

I pulled the trigger.

And one by one they fell.

I glanced around the corner, seeing it empty. I ran through the halls, noting the lack of Galra Sentries. I froze as I came to a halt in front of the hangar our lions were in.

Keith was surrounded by 30 Galra soldiers.

As good as Keith was at combat, there was no way he'd be able to beat them all. I narrowed my eyes. There was no way that I was letting them take Keith. I swung my Bayard up, and I pulled the trigger back in rapid succession, taking out soldier after soldier. I ran into the battle that erupted in the hangar, wincing as I felt a bullet graze my arm. I lifted my Bayard up, knocking a soldier to the ground. I kicked my leg out, knocking over a few soldiers. I whirled around and blasted a few soldiers heading towards Keith. "Shiro!" Keith yelled into his com, "Lance and I are surrounded! We need backup!" A static filled out coms. "They're jamming the signal!" Keith growled. Keith was a whirlwind, slicing down soldier after soldier. My eyes widened as I saw a Galra aim his gun at Keith. "KEITH!" I yelled.

I dove in front of Keith, feeling pain explode in my abdomen.

I gasped, and hit the floor hard. I staggered to my feet and shakily began shooting. I felt weaker as time progressed, but Keith and I kept fighting. "Lance! Let's go!" Keith yelled, running to his lion. I smiled and stumbled towards Blue. My vision blurred, and I coughed. I felt warmth on my chin, and I reached up to wipe it away.

My gloves were painted red.

I dropped my bayard, slowly looking down at my abdomen. A hole laid embedded in my side.

"K-Keith."

I gasped, collapsing to the floor. I pressed my hands against the wound, trying to stop the blood flow. "Lance! We don't have time for your-" Keith paled as he saw me on the ground. "Quiznak!" He growled, racing over to me. "Keith, I-I've been hit." I said softly. "Y-You took that bullet for me." He whispered. I smiled.

"Of course, mullet."

-Keith's POV-

Lance looked up at me, serious. "You need to get out of here, Keith. Take Red and get Blue out of here." I growled. "No way! Are you insane? I'm not leaving you!" Lance weakly laughed. "I took that bullet so you could get out of here, not get captured by the Galra with a dying teen." I shook my head. "No! You're going to be fine!" I ignored the growing puddle of red that spread from Lance. Footsteps pounded in the hall outside the hangar.

"Go, Mullet." Lance shuddered, "Get out of here."

Galra burst through the doors. I stood up and drew my sword. "You're gonna gave h*ll to pay." I snarled at the soldiers. I stepped in front of Lance. "You're gonna have to get past me." The soldiers charged, and I furiously sliced and slammed my way through Galra after Galra. I stabbed through the chest of the last soldier, breathing heavily. "T-Thanks." A hushed whisper reached my ear. I spun around to see Lance smiling.

"Thanks for giving me the chance to fight alongside the greatest pilot in the Garrison. Thank you for everything, Keith."

Lance's eyes fluttered closed, and his chest laid still.

"No." I gasped, "No, no, no, no, NO!" I kneeled at Lance's side, wrapping my arms around his still figure.

"No. Y-You're the sharpshooter, Lance! You're the glue of the team, we need you! You can't just die!" Tears dripped down my chin. I buried my head in his chest.

"I need you."
