-Lance's POV-

"Ugh." I groaned, squinting my eyes against the bright light. My head felt heavy, and my limbs numb. What happened? I struggled to a sitting position, eyes glazed with confusion. I slowly looked around, sighing in relief as I noticed my teammates unharmed on the ground. I forced myself to my feet, noting that 2 figures were hidden in the corner, cloaked in shadow. I stumbled forwards, jerking to a halt as a chain around my ankle kept me grounded to the spot. "S-Shiro!" I croaked, "Wake up!" He groaned, but didn't get up. I slumped to the ground, pulling my knees to my chest. "I guess I'll just wait." I mumbled, staring at the opposite wall.

Minutes later, they stirred.

"Quiznak, where are we?" Pidge yelped, coming to her senses. "Nice of you to join the party, Pidge." I joked, sliding my gaze to the ceiling. "L-Lance?" She asked, "How long have you been awake?" I sighed, "Long enough." The others woke up shortly, and I briefly explained what I knew.

Which wasn't very much.

The two figures in the corner stirred, silent. "Lance," Hunk voiced, "Why are you over there?" I realized that everyone was gathered on the opposite wall, I was alone on the other side of the room. "Dunno." I said, "But it doesn't matter. We need to figure out a plan to get out of here." Keith opened his mouth, but was cut off as a screen projected in the air.

"Welcome, Paladins!" A cheery voice laughed. "As you can see, you're in a little predicament." I narrowed my eyes at the figure on the screen. "Lotor." Shiro growled. "Yes, yes, it's me." Lotor smiled. "We're going to play a little game," he smirked, "You Paladins really are great fun!" Pidge's hands clenched into fists. "You're all trapped in a room, I'm sure you can see." His voice was smooth, "And you have no way out. You are trapped here, and under that floor lies a bomb." My eyes widened. "That bomb will go off in 10 minutes," Lotor mused, "Unless one person in the room is killed." An object fell from the ceiling, landing heavily in front of me.

I refused to look at it.

"If the Blue Paladin kills one person with that handy little gun, I'll let you all free. With your lions, of course." Lotor grew serious, "I promise. Now, Lance," I flinched, my name like poison from his mouth, "You have options. One, you could kill one of your teammates. Two, you could kill one of the two alien civilians in the corner," The lights flickered on, expelling the 2 figures of shadow, revealing one boy and one girl. "Or three, you could kill no one and all die from the bomb. Have fun! You have 10 minutes." Lotor waved, and the screen disappeared.

Silence.

"T-there is no way this can be happening." I muttered, staring blankly at the floor. "It's happening," Shiro growled, "That sick son of a-" Shiro stopped. I shakily reached for the gun, cringing when my fingers made contact with cold, sleek metal. I wrapped my fingers around it, holding it as far away as possible. "I'm not killing any of you," I said, "I-I can't." The civilians whimpered. "I'm not killing innocent people either." I took a shaky breath.

"What do we do?"

Shiro looked at me. "Shoot me." He said, "Then this will be over." I looked away. "Shiro you're the leader. Voltron will fall apart if-if you-" Pidge's voice wavered before trailing off. Keith nodded. "We can't lose you."

"5 minute warning."

Lotor's voice rang through the room. I looked at each of my teammates, going through different scenarios, when I came to the conclusion.

We couldn't lose any of them.

I raised the gun, hands shaking violently. I pointed it at Shiro, my body trembling. My eyes shimmered with tears. Shiro gave me a sad smile.

"2 minutes."

"It's okay, Lance." Shiro whispered softly. The others were frozen in place, looking between me and the gun with disbelief.

"I'm sorry." I whispered, turning the gun around and setting the barrell against my chest.

Shiro's eyes grew wide, the others yelling.

"LANCE!"

I smiled and pulled the trigger.
