-Lance's POV-

I couldn't sleep, the team's harsh comments echoing in my mind.

"Try harder!"

"You call that shooting?!"

"Pay more attention!"

"Be more like Keith!"

"That was pathetic. And you call yourself a Paladin of Voltron."

I shook, curled up in a ball, eyes filled with tears. "I know, I know." I shivered, grabbing fistfuls of hair and tugging as everything blurred together in a mass of black. "I'm sorry." I mumbled. There was a knock on my door. "Lance? Buddy? It's me, Hunk." He paused. "Are you okay?" I couldn't answer, my throat closing up, my vision narrowing into a tunnel. "I'm not good enough." I mumbled, chest heaving as I gasped for air.

"Lance? I'm coming in."

Hunk said, slowly opening the door, face falling when he saw me. He closed the door quietly and slowly approached me. "Lance. Lance, can you hear me?" He kneeled down besides me. My eyes were glossy, and I couldn't see anything. "H-Hunk?" I whispered. "Yes. It's okay. It's going to be okay." Hunk talked gently. "Focus on my voice. Breathe." I latched onto the sound of Hunk's voice, struggling to control my breathing. "There you go. Count backwards from 5. I'll do it with you." "F-Five." I gasped, "F-Four." Hunk continued. "Three." "T-Two." I jumped in, my breathing slowing. "One." Hunk smiled. "Easy, it's okay." I slowly uncurled myself, staring at the opposite wall.

"I'm sorry."

I mumbled, wiping at my face with my sleeve. Hunk shook his head. "No, you have nothing to apologize for." He sat on the bed next to me, drawing me into his chest, arms wrapped around me. "I screwed up." I whispered, eyes downcast. "I really screwed up." Hunk squeezed me. "No, you didn't, Lance. You did fine." I laughed, a hollow sound.

"Why am I even a Paladin If everything I do is just a mistake?" My eyes were dull.

"I think Allura should take my place as the Blue Paladin." I forgot Hunk was in the room. "Then I could be out of everyone's way. Yeah, the problem would be solved." I mumbled, "I just have to take myself out of the equation. That'll be easy, though-" I was cut off by Hunk's wavering voice. "No. Lance, don't think like that." His voice shook, "We need you. This team needs you. I need you." I fell silent, tears starting to slide down my cheeks.

"Why am I here, Hunk?" I sobbed, "Why?"

"We all have our problems, I know that, and here I am, taking up your time and putting my problems on your shoulders." My voice quavered. Hunk ran a hand through my hair. "Lance, It's okay. I'm your friend, and this is what friends do. We comfort each other when we need it." He smiled softly, "And You're always putting the others' problems on your shoulders. You make sure Pidge eats, that Keith sleeps, that Shiro isn't always stressed, that Allura doesn't use up all her energy, and you help Coran with all the chores when you can." He sighed. "You help me through panic attacks when I have them, and help me with my anxiety." He paused. "You're the glue of this team. Without you, we'd all be dead. Or very close to it."

I was silent.

"It's gonna be alright, Lance." Hunk hugged me. "You're strong. You've been through so much, but you're still here. You're a soldier." I faintly smiled. "Y-You're right Hunk." My voice was quiet, "I-It'll be okay. I just have to push through it." Hunk smiled. "Yep. I'll be right here for you if you ever need someone." Hunk whispered. I smiled.

"Thanks for being my sunshine, Hunk."
