-Lance's POV-

"They kind of have nice taste." I said, eyes trailing along the purple ceiling of the Galran ship. Shiro looked back at me, eyebrow raised. "One color, all organized." I shrugged, "It matches perfectly. Easier to color-coodinate things with." Hunk sighed, and Keith rolled his eyes. I huffed, trailing at the rear of our group, eyes trained on the abandoned hallway we left behind. Pidge held her Bayard tightly in her hand, eyes skirting over the many corridors we passed. I quickly shot down a stray Galra soldier, the bright blue of the bullet slamming into his chest. I straightened, and I wheeled around to face the others.

"What are we really doing here, Shiro?"

I asked, voice hard. Shiro froze, my question catching him off guard. "What?" He breathed, genuine confusion flitting across his face. "Why are we in the heart of a Galaran ship inside one of the empire's most protected fleets?" I sighed, hoisting my gun into the air and resting it on my shoulder. "I'm not stupid." I said, "Why are we really here? I know we're not here to get information that we already have." Shiro cocked his head in concern. "Allura told me that we came here to get General Monoscithe's call records." He said sternly, "That's all she told me." I smiled lightly, "If so then why haven't we gotten the information? Pidge could have hacked it in the first 5 minutes." Keith looked sideways, gaze turned on to Shiro. "Look, I don't know! Why don't you just ask Allura!?" Shiro sighed frustrated, calling Allura up on his wrist communicator.  "Hello?" Allura's voice wavered in the air, "What's going on?" Shiro looked away. I walked up to the hologram, "Why are we here, Allura?" I asked, staring into her eyes. "You're there to get-" I cut her off, "Don't give me that crap. Why. Are. We. Here." I growled, blue eyes locked onto hers. Allura winced, sighing.

"A test."

Her voice was broken, "You've been giving off strange energy waves, Lance. We had to make sure that you weren't a clone." I froze, my gaze boring Into hers. "You've made a grave mistake." I hissed, voice cold. Footsteps thundered through the halls, Galaran soldiers flooding into the hall. Allura's eyes widened, "You must get out of there!" Her voice was frantic, "I never meant for this to go this far!" I turned away, looking at the mass of soldiers that looked our way. "No," I said, taking a deep breathe, "You're going to watch. You're going to see what happens when you test me." Pidge tensed, and Hunk stepped forwards.

"You think I'm a demon."

My voice was strong. "You've got us in this mess. And now you're going to watch it be resolved. I'll show you what a demon looks like." I smiled, dropping my Bayard on the floor. I raised my hands out in front of me, and blue flowed from my palms. My eyes narrowed into slits, and small horns protruded from my head. I laughed, armor sprouting from my chest, spreading over my body.

"I am a demon, after all."

A beast of energy formed in front of me, and I wasted no time mounting it, charging into the sea of soldiers, twin guns blazing. I tore through their armored bodies like blades of grass, weaving through their shots with practiced ease. I was faintly aware of the other Paladins frozen in place, but I paid them no heed. "There you have it." I grinned from atop my beast.

"I'm not fully human."

My armor shimmered in the light, and I spread my arms wide. "I can be anything I want to." I shrugged, "But I like being a hero. I was one before I joined Voltron, and I suppose old habits die hard." Shiro was pale, eyes wide. Keith was shaking slightly, and Pidge clung to Hunk. "W-What do you mean?" Keith's voice broke. I smiled lopsidedly.

"I'm a former member of the Elites."

I laughed,

"I'm unstoppable."
