-Lance's POV-
I'm crumpling underneath this pressure, the crippling expectations of the universe. I'm not perfect, far from the level that my teammates reside on. I shivered as I gazed out the observatory window, hands grazing bandaged wrists. My stomach rumbled, but I ignored it, staring out at the stars.
What's the harm in skipping one more meal?
The unearthly glow of passing nebulas reflected on far away planets, distant cosmos sprinkled across the blank space like freckles. Not good enough. My mind whispered, and I slowly drew my knees into my chest.
Fat.
Ugly.
Stupid.
Waste of Space.
Worthless.
Mistake.
Sin.
I buried my face in my knees as a familiar wetness grew on my cheeks, tears splattering on my jacket, a hollow sound echoing in the empty room. "Oh, God." I sobbed, body trembling in an attempt to subdue the harsh tremors of sadness. "I'm sorry, I'm so, so, sorry." My apologizes fell on deaf ears, and I curled into a ball as waves of despair dragged me away and into the sea.
_______________-Keith's POV-
Dinner was strangely silent, Lance's empty chair teasing us with the untouched bowl of food. "Hey, where's Lance?" Pidge asked, looking at Hunk, who shrugged. "Dunno." He sighed in return. "Maybe he's in his room." The silence crept into the kitchen yet again, the lack of sound like outstretched claws ensnaring us in its grasp. "I shall call a team meeting in the control room. Coran and I have decided that it is time for a team bonding exercise." Allura said, breaking the silence like glass. "Good idea." Shiro nodded. I pushed my chair back, quickly making my way down the hall and into the control room.
"Team report to control room."
Allura's strong voice rang clearly. The others shuffled in, a familiar Cuban teen missing from the group. "I'll check his room." Hunk sighed, disappearing around the corner. I crossed my arms, impatient. "He's not in his room." Hunk skidded into the room, concern clear on his face. Pidge exchanged a look with Shiro, and they both nodded. "I'll hack into the security cameras." Pidge announced, unfolding her laptop. The door opened, and Lance staggered in, hair askew and jacket rumpled. "What'd I miss?" He asked, eyes glossed with confusion. "Nice of you to finally show up." I said sarcastically. Lance rolled his eyes, "Sorry." Allura sighed, running a hand through her hair. "It's fine. It's time for another team bonding exercise." Lance groaned, shoulders slumping. "We'll be playing truth or dare." Lance shrugged, eyes still blurred.
It was clear that he was out of it.
I slid into a space between Hunk and Shiro, all of us gathered in a circle on the floor. "Truth or Dare?" Allura asked Hunk, whose face lit up. "Truth." Allura frowned. "What is the most disgusting thing you've ever cooked?" Hunk propped his head in his hands. "Once, when I was 11, I decided to make a mud-pie. Only, I made it with actual mud, and some grass for 'seasoning'." Hunk shuddered. "Coran, Truth or Dare?" Coran straightened, "Dare." Hunk grinned. "I dare you to dress up in a cape." Coran smiled, and minutes later, returned in an oversized red cape. "Allura, Truth or Dare?" Allura responded instantly, "Dare." Coran snickered, cape rippling with his movements. "I dare you to wear your hair in a ponytail atop your head." No sooner had the words left his mouth when the mice set to work, morphing Allura's hair into a wild sprout of white strands exploding ontop of her head. "Shiro," Allura giggled, "Truth or Dare?" Shiro merely shrugged, "Truth." Allura thought for a second, a wicked smile appearing on her face.
