-Third Person-
"Two birds..." Lance sang softly, bandaged wrists stretched out to the sky. "On a wire." Lance smiled, staring up at the stars. "One tries to fly away..." Lance pushed himself up onto the railing of the castle, footsteps wild and shaky as he stared at the ground 20 stories below. "And the other watches him close from that wire." Lance's voice was soft, and he raised his tear-stained cheeks to the bright light of the moon. "He says he wants to as well," Lance swayed dangerously, hair fluttering in the breeze.
"But he is a liar."
Lance laughed, a crazed sound. His jacket sleeves caught in the wind, brushing up past his elbows, revealing his forearms wrapped in white bandages. He heard his teammates calling for him through his helmet which laid discarded on the ground, but he made no move to respond.
"Lance?! Where are you?!"
Shiro's concerned voice echoed through the crisp air. Lance stood on the railing silently, head tilted to the side. "I'll believe it all." Lance whispered, "There's nothing I won't understand." Lance danced dangerously closer to the edge. He heard shouts from the others as the approached his location. "I'll believe it all." Lance's voice wavered.
"L-Lance?"
A small voice yelped quietly. Lance whirled around on the railing, his eyes meeting the rest of the team's. "Hey Pigeon." Lance smiled, tears sliding down his cheeks. "Lance?! What the hell are you doing up there?!" Keith's voice shook. Lance sighed. "It's so much easier to catch stars from up here." Lance whispered, glancing up at the sky. "Lance, please-please get down from there." Hunk's shaking voice was desperate. "Lance." Shiro's voice was soft, "Please get off the railing." Keith's eyes were wide, and Pidge was latched on to Hunk, tears streaming down her face.
"I won't let go of your hand."
Lance laughed, and the others froze. "Two birds, On a wire." Lance twirled around on the narrow stretch of metal, teetering dangerously. "One says c'mon, and the other says 'I'm tired'". Lance trailed off, tears splattering on the railing, his bandaged wrists stark against the inky dark of the night.
"The sky is overcast,"
The others rushed forwards, eyes wide, faces pale.
"And I'm sorry."
Lance whispered as he fell forwards, tumbling towards the ground 20 stories below.
