Every so often I contemplate how much I'd really like to get another pup. Ours lived fifteen years and saw our daughter start kindergarten, and go through university. Then I remember the huge responsibility... Years later I find this diary page and know that it still represents my life, with the exception of one line, the pup. I took the pages of sentences and fragments and wrote the following poem. The more things change, the more they remain the same.
Writing Day
Breakfast and a whole long lazy day to relax and write without any interruptions
Turn on and search for classical music, the perfect tunes to inspire creativity
Favorite pen, favorite paper, favorite chair, tick-tock, drawing a total blank
Telephone rings, a family member decides to unload multiple problems
Dog whimpers and needy eyes beg for an extended walk to the park
Back at home the door bell rings, bringing a package from Fed Ex
Hunger pains cause stomach rumble, pop some buttered corn
Email pop-up for awesome summer sale, must take a peek
Quite parched from salty popcorn, got to make some tea
Surprise visit from a good friend that settles into couch
Take quick break for a late lunch at new restaurant
Get held up in bad traffic on the way back home
Forgot about laundry sitting on the hall floor
Remind me again of what I wanted to do
Nature calls, potty break, gotta go poo
See a spot on shirt, change clothes
Look down at ghastly muffin top
Contemplate exercise options
I said contemplate, not do
Prepare healthy dinner
Dessert with spouse
Wordless pages
Frustration
Bedtime
Night
Zzz
