Week 112 - Feral Felines

We have moved, and I thought escaped wild stalking cats. They had decimated our beloved wildlife in FL. So, what do I find stalking on our newly installed motion night cams the very first night in the new GA home? Cats, yet again! I love all wildlife and that is why I used traps supplied by the city, to humanely remove the overpopulation of cats in our old neighborhood. The nightmare has already begun afresh...

Feral Felines

Gone away gone away
One dark feral cat
In a cage by a van
With a man in a hat

The clowder dwindled
With a cage newly set
Cat food to entice
Another we did get

Three cats in a row
To good to be true
A possum is trapped
Time to begin anew

The very next night
A sky full of stars
More food disappears
But empty cage bars

Our luck did return
A large tabby cat
Slinks through the bushes
We win the combat

The weekend is here
Short cage break to take
From crafty feline
For sanity's sake

Back on the hunt
Our hopes were high
Nocturnal possum
We said a good bye

Elusive and sly
Spraying our house
Repugnant prowlers
I discuss with my spouse

Deceived once more
They've sprung the trap
Nine-lives too many
Tired of their crap

Devious critters
They stalk and sneak
Thieves of nature
Those mild and meek

Five feral feline
One more caught this night
An enemy conquered
By mornings first light

One squirrel two squirrel
Return to our land
Burying nuts
Precious contraband

Where have they all been
Now the rabbits are back
Avoiding viscous cats
Attack after attack

Birds chirp and build nests
Our trees begin to fill
Renewed safe haven
No cats will climb and kill

Treasured sanctuary
Behold a fresh sight
From window to slider
Dig hop and take flight
