With the virus raging he's a pleasant daily distraction. Walking, playing, training...Intruder
Peaceful sleep ceased
At the sound of the beast
Whose steps drew ever nearScreams steadily build
Lungs readily filled
Petrified by fearCan't turn and face
Bravado debased
Intruders intentions unclearNape of neck tightens
Warm breath frightens
Goosebumps appearFoul as stinky cheese
Olfactory senses seize
The stench is severeHadn't they heard
Of toothbrush, the word
Hygiene rules to adhereForehead deeply furrows
Head on pillow burrows
From an eye I peerAdopted pup licks
Dog common antics
Affection for him sincere
