Week 150 - Intruder

Time plays tricks on us. At times it seems as if we just added Wraith (our adopted pup) to our lives, and then it often feels as if he's been part of the family forever...
With the virus raging he's a pleasant daily distraction. Walking, playing, training...

Intruder

Peaceful sleep ceased
At the sound of the beast
Whose steps drew ever near

Screams steadily build
Lungs readily filled
Petrified by fear

Can't turn and face
Bravado debased
Intruders intentions unclear

Nape of neck tightens
Warm breath frightens
Goosebumps appear

Foul as stinky cheese
Olfactory senses seize
The stench is severe

Hadn't they heard
Of toothbrush, the word
Hygiene rules to adhere

Forehead deeply furrows
Head on pillow burrows
From an eye I peer

Adopted pup licks
Dog common antics
Affection for him sincere
