My daughter and I decided to go to the Fort Worth botanical gardens. Why on a 103 degree day? That is a question I can not answer. The great part was we had the grounds all to ourselves. It's a beautiful place, but by the end of our tour we were not even talking. We were just concentrating on getting back to the air-conditioned car, bittersweet...

Botanical Gardens

New experience excitement
Map of extensive garden grounds
Sun blistering sensitive skin
Stagnant air carries no sounds

Beading on epidermis
Blinding rays overtly preside
Koi decline feeding invitation
Lizard under leaf does hide

Irrational thirst parches throat
Brief breeze delivers fragrant whiff
Sandals irritate chafed toes
Want to expose bloated midriff

Turtles dive to depths unknown
Pond surface and ground elide
Clothes stick uncomfortably
Desire to flee, must override

Lethargic response to snake
Zigzag between tree's welcomed shade
Blooming foliage of summer
Time with daughter wouldn't trade
