I'm Sorry If I Hurt You

"Luka," Infinity called with his hands in his pockets as he walked up to me.

"... what?" I asked, sitting with my arms covering my legs as I sat against the wall that surrounded Infinity's house.

"I apologize if I upset you just now. I was... mistaken. Look, I just don't understand why you'd be interested in Yukio of all humans. You don't deserve that kind of pain. You'll outlive him, you know? Then you'll know how it feels. Trust me when I say you don't want that pain," Infinity told me.

"But isn't it worth it? Just to know you've at least made someone's life worth living. I think it's a good way to spend my time. I know you've probably done this one too many times but I want to go through with it," I told him as he sat next to me.

"You want to go through a pain worse than death? Suit yourself," Infinity grunted.

"Oh, what would you know about death?" I complained.

"More than you. Why don't you spend your time learning how to use magic or something? That would be a much better use of your time rather than waiting to be noticed," Infinity advised me.

"Mom said I school live my childhood first," I told him.

"Well, I guess that's understandable..." Infinity mumbled.

"Do you understand why I can't control you now?" Infinity asked.

"Huh? No..." I mumbled.

"You're a demon. You have magic in your blood. I can't control the body of anyone who has magic in their blood as it fights back against my own so I can't properly control the body. It's why I couldn't delete the memories you'd gained of me and why I couldn't control you the other day when you almost drowned," Infinity explained.

"Oh... I see. Kyo did mention that you had control over some people. But not me. Does it have anything to do with the work you used to do with Kyo?" I asked.

"You haven't dropped that yet? Geez, Luka. That was like 30 chapters ago," Infinity complained.

"So don't you think it's about time you told me?" I asked.

"Ugh... whatever. The angels have this policy about not killing people. Yet, there're souls out there that can't be purred. They needed someone to deal with them without a soul to sin. So, I stepped in out of pure boredom. That's when I met Kyo. The difference was, he was killing people to take their souls. He's a soul demon. He gains the years of the human souls and magic of the magical creature souls he takes. He can't gain years off demons though since they could live forever if they were lucky. He can take as many souls as he likes. He could even take yours, Luka. But he won't until he knows it would give him some major advantage. But that's why you need to learn to use your magic to protect yourself. Magic isn't a weakness so long as you know how to use it. Anyway, he tagged along with me to take the unpurrable souls of those I killed. I kept doing it every night. I killed like it was an Instinct. I was designed to after all. But eventually, I broke down. I realised that if I kept going, I would never be able to feel anything. I was becoming what I used to be. Someone I despised so damn much. I was becoming more and more heartless with every life I stole. Every neck I slit. Every chest I stabbed. Every limb I tore. If I wasn't already broken, I was halfway there. So, I stopped. I wanted to try living like all my victims did. That's why I'm living a human life for a while until I can find a way to feel something again. Anything. Just... some kind of clear emotion. And no, not anger. You already accomplish that on a daily basis," Infinity explained.

"Well, I don't mean too," I told him.

Infinity sighed.

"So why did Kyo come back to you?" I asked.
