What I'm trying to say, is if-and when he does one of those stupid things I've been saying just know he's trying, okay? - Jaime Kailani

———————————————————————————————-

Every New Years Eve I was astonished when it arrived.

Another year had gone by in a flash but this New Years Eve in particular had me reeling.

Just a year ago I was just an assistant at a magazine trying to catch her break while working part time bartender trying to make ends meet.

And yeah, that was still my resume but now I had been written a published article and could say I was in a relationship with Bruno freaking Mars. Who happened to be at number one in the country right now.

If you had told 2011 Tina Danielson this she would have slapped you silly.

"Are you sure this isn't too vampy?" Raye asked for the billionth time in front of my mirror as the four of us got ready to go out to a club to celebrate New Years Eve, a pretty exclusive one we wouldn't have even considered going to a year ago, but that's what you get for being associated with Bruno Mars and his Hooligans.

"No it's perfect." Fara replied. "When are the guys getting here–"

She was interrupted by an obnoxious amount of car horns from outside my apartment building.

"I'm guessing about now."  I nodded to my window, why is it when the whole group is coming here they feel it's necessary to come guns blazing?

They being Bruno and guns blazing being blaring the horn like I live in a isolated area without neighbors.

I gasped when I looked out my window.

"Why is there a limo waiting outside my building?" I looked back to the girls. Fara shrugged her shoulders looking as clueless as I felt whereas Kendra looked...more informed and smug.

"My idea" She grinned. "It's the end of 2012, we thought we were going to die ten days ago–"

"–no, you two thought we were going to die ten days ago." I stated pointedly looking at both Kendra and Raye.

"That's not the point!" Kendra insisted. "It's the end of the year so why not travel in style? We deserve a little glamour once in a while." It was rare when Kendra Pierce was genuine and vulnerable in...anything and that was why I knew she would bring it out in certain siuations, like now. She smiled once again when she knew she had tugged on the heartstrings of our friendship group. "C'mon, they won't wait forever!"

We all left my apartment and the building as fast as we could in our varying heels. The weather was a cool breeze but nothing compared to any hour back in Iowa so I was grateful.

The limo door opened revealing Kenji with an open champagne bottle in his hand.

"HEY!" He yelled showing how drunk he was already.

But that only excited me more for what was to come for tonight.

We all piled into the limo and it had surpassed whatever I was expecting. I had only been in an limo once before. For my senior prom, which everyone in it had forked a hefty price and this Limo was in a whole entire league compared to that.

The gold looking interior, the bottles lined on the rack, the multiple televisions, the surround sound speakers,.

"Holy Shit." Raye breathed as she took in all that was here.
