Chapter 42: In the rain

Daniel's POV:

Man I missed home so much. As much as I love being in LA with my friends, I needed this. To spend some time with my family.

Today, with Laurie, we're going to visit her father in jail. In two days it's her mother's birthday.

Speaking of her mother, Mrs Humbert spent the whole day locked in the room. Laurie started to get worried because she hasn't eaten anything.

Last night we spent a great time with my family which helped her to clear her mind from everything that is going on.

I'm right now on my way to pick up Laurie from her house to go see her father. We're going walking because it's not so far and we don't feel like going by car.

I'm not really looking forward to it because I can feel he doesn't like me that much like the rest of her family but this means a lot to Dimples which is why I'm doing it.

When I get to her house, I ring the bell hoping for someone to open the door quickly as the sky starts to be covered by gray clouds.

A few seconds later, Laurie opens it looking beautiful wearing some jeans, her Guns N Roses shirt with my zipper jacket over it and her hair in a messy bun.

She doesn't wear clothes that are too fancy but I don't care. She still looks beautiful. It's something about her that makes me fall in love more each day. (We fall in love bout a hundred times a day. I should probably stop)

I come closer to her but suddenly four boys come and attack me in a playfull way and knock me on the floor.

"What are you guys doing here?" I ask confused.

"Well, nice to see you too buddy." Jack says getting himself off me.

"We missed ya bro." Jonah bro hugs me.

"We just left yesterday." I laugh.

"Yeah but it feels weird to just be 4/5 of Why Don't We. It just doesn't feel right." Zach says stretching his hand out for us to do the handshake.

I just laugh. "You guys are weird." I say walking to Laurie and wrapping my arm around her.

"And so are you." She kisses my nose.

"Okay you guys are cute but this starts to gross me out. Get a room." Jack cringes.

"Well boys we have to go we'll see you later." Laurie tells them.

"Don't make any mess and when I come back make sure that the dishes are washed." She yells as we walk away from the house.

"Okay mama Kiwi." They all yell at the same time making Laurie laugh.

I smile. I love her laugh. I love to see her happy.

She takes out her hand indicating me to hold which I gladly do.

"So what were they doing in your house?" I ask trying to make conversation.

"They arrived early this morning. Apparently Andre knew but didn't tell us anything. It surprised me at first but it's nice having them here. We have to give them a tour." She happily says.

"Of course. I was hoping this week to be just the both of us but what possibly could go wrong with them being here?" I smile at her.

"Anything can happen." She giggles. "I mean come on, you guys are Why Don't We. Everywhere you go you make a mess." She holds her laugh.

"Hey!" I complain and pout like a little kid. "It's not my fault we're a dangerous combination."

"It's dangerous but worth it." She winks at me. "But you signed up for it though." She pokes my side.

"Yeah but still." I laugh. "Who knew it was going to turn out like this."

We continue walking in the street as some raindrops start to fall from the sky.

"Damn it. I'm going to get sick." She sighs as we walk faster.

"Here, lets swap jackets." I say taking off mine that was thicker that the one Laurie has which will keep her warm.

"Nope. Then you'll get sick." She denies.

"I'd rather be sick than you. Come on babe take off your jacket." I insist. "Wait I forgot that is MY jacket so I decide what to do with it." I wink at her.

She rolls her eyes playfully. "Whatever. If you get sick, it's your problem." She shakes her head.

"I know but I know that you'll be taking care of me." I wink at her.

"You wish Seavey." She laughs.

Suddenly, the rain starts to pour down soaking us from head to toe. We start running in the rain, our hands still together.

"Ahh!" I hear Laurie yell laughing. She suddenly stops making me stop as well to catch her breath.

"Jump." I tell her pointing at my back. She smiles and instantly jumps on my back and I quickly sprint.

I hear her laugh in the middle of the rain. I put her down as I get tired.

As I put my hand on my knees catching my breath, I see Dimples spinning around playing like a kid. I smile at her cuteness.

I approach her, take her hand and spin her close to me. She puts one hand on my chest and the other one behind my neck.

I put my right hand on her cheek and the left one behind her back pulling her closer to me our bodies touching keeping us a little warm.

I lean in and press my lips on her warm ones. We kiss passionately forgetting the rain pouring on us.

I forget about the problems, I forget about everything just to focus in this moment. It's just the both of us.

I can't imagine a more perfect moment than this one.
