Chapter 54: Perfect Occasion

Laurie's POV:

The four boys walk to Daniel and help him carry the wrapped box.

"Um Dimples, I have a few gifts for you and this might take some time but anyway." He chuckles.

"Bro this is huge. What did you get her." Jonah laughs. "You'll see." He smiles innocently.

I rip the wrapping paper slowly to reveal first of a small box in which there is a light blue Polaroid camera, one that I've always wanted to have.

"Like Logan said, you love photography and he already got you a professional camera so I wanted to make a twist and get you something a bit more simple and artsy."

I'm about to give him a hug but another gift caught my eye. It's a red pillow, in which is printed Daniel's typical quote: "I've never and will never judge you" on one side and on the other, "I love you". Daniel's cheesy side that I love.

I squeeze it tightly and smell his cologne.

I put it aside and keep on digging in the box.

Next up is a glass container filled with kisses (the chocolate) and on in is written with cut paper: 'Kisses for when I'm not around' and a printed picture of Daniel winking and puckering his lips out blowing a kiss.

I laugh at the details that make a big difference.

A stuffed bear is the next gift I receive from him. Man I love stuffed toys and to be honest I don't have that much.

I take out a book. I open it a see that it's a photo album of pictures of both of us that go til way back. Although we considered each other as best friends when we were 15, we obviously knew each other since we were little.

I take some time admiring the photos, with Daniel sitting beside me with his arm around my waist. There is one, taken before he left for American Idol, in which I am on his back, running around the park. Another one is taken the same day as he left for Idol, when we were in his mom's car, on our way to the airport.

I can't help but smile at the happy memories.

One of the pictures is taken recently but I've never seen it before. It's one where we are holding hands, walking on the beach, my head leaning on his shoulder. I suppose it was taken when we just came back from our trip in Portland.

"Corbyn took the picture." Daniel states, as if he is reading my mind.

After sharing some memories, I open another gift. This one really surprised me.

"That's why you didn't want me to get it." I say, taking out the light blue Nike shoes that caught my attention for months. I kick off my converse and immediately put on my new shoes. I love them.

"Yeah. I bought it months ago, we were not a couple yet. The day we played truth or dare. I really wanted to give them to you I just didn't know when and it was really hard for me to keep it a secret from you. But I think now it's the perfect occasion to give them to you." He explains, finishing with a grin.

"Daniel, god you're truly amazing. I'm sorry I overreacted." I say, quite embarrassed of myself. Daniel was trying to surprise me, to make something for my birthday, and I got mad at him for not telling me what he was hiding. I got mad at him for no reason.

"It's fine. I understand you. And trust me, I hated to see you in that situation but I really wanted to do something special for you." He rubs my arm.

"Oh my god this is too cute!" Alexa yells, taking out of the big box, another small box and hands it to me.

I open it and see to matching mugs, saying QUEEN and KING.

I finish opening the rest of the amazing gifts he got me but I am not going to describe all of them because the author is lazy.

"Thank you all for coming this really means a lot for me I don't have enough words to describe how thankful I am to have these amazing people in my life." I say, motioning to all of the people in the room. Everyone claps.

We finish cleaning up the place. Well I just helped a tiny little bit because the Why Don't We boys refused me to help rearranging the place because it's my birthday.

Alexa and Dylan left a couple minutes ago and all of the guests as well, except for my family.

"Dimples babe, stay over please."Daniel grabs my hand, pleading. "I would love to but my family is staying home and I have to be with them." I explain.

"Laurie sweetie, just stay here for the night. We want you to spend some time with you're amazing boyfriend. We'll just head home don't worry about us." My mom says, hugging me from behind.

"Are you sure?" "100%" "Okay then. Here are the keys and Andre knows which apartment it is." I tell her, handing her my house keys.

A few minutes after they left, 4/5 of the Why Don't We boys are asleep on the living room couch. I walk to the kitchen to get  glass of water and feel Daniel wrapping his arm around my waist.

"Thank you Dani. This has been the best birthday I've ever had." I say, putting my glass down, and facing him, planting a kiss on his lips.

"Anything to make you happy." He returns the kiss.
