Chapter 40: I miss them

Laurie's POV:

I scroll through my Instagram and see that my younger sister recently posted a family pic with the background of a lake.

I'm not gonna lie, I do miss my family. I did visit them during tour but I barely saw them.

I don't really have the time to go back to Portland I've been really busy with music and stuff.

In a few weeks it's my mom's birthday. I was hoping to surprise her but like I said, there's no time.

I sniff. I didn't realise I'm crying. I wipe my tears as Daniel comes in.

"Hey babe." He happily grins hugging me as soon as he reaches me and gives me a peck in the lips.

"Hey." I reply sniffing once again.

"What's wrong?" He asks his expression changing quickly staring at me.

"It's nothing." I saw looking down at my phone where is shown the picture of my family.

"I just miss them. A lot." I turn off my phone.

"Hey it's fine. I understand you. You're going to see them soon." He conforts me putting his arm around my back.

"There's not enough time." I lean my head on his shoulder. He just stays there silent.

"Well, I don't know if it will make you feel better but I brought you some food. You must be hungry and I bet the fridge is empty huh?" He takes out some chocolate.

"You know me so well." I giggle hugging him and giving him a kiss on the cheek.

"Oh and by the way, nice sweater you got there." He winks at me. I playfully roll my eyes.

"Why thank you but it's not mine though. It's from some guy called Daniel Seavey I think." I say before locking myself in the bathroom to get ready. I plan on hanging out at Logan's to clear myself a bit. I've been locked up in this apartment working on some music. I need some fresh air.

"Hey!" I hear Daniel complain from the other side of the door. I just laugh at his goofiness.

I don't know what this boy is doing to me but he never fails to make me feel better.

Daniel's POV: (didn't expect that did ya?)

I walk out of our manager's office smiling wide. I see Jack plopped on the couch.

"So it's a yes?" He asks not taking his eyes off his phone.

"It's a yes." I answer nodding.

"Did you ask Emma, her manager?" He questions.

"I just did and she gave me her aproval. She thinks it's a good idea to give Laurie a break. She has been working hard lately." I say.

"When do you plan on going there?" He asks me.

"Well, in a week it's her mom's birthday so I was thinking maybe to surprise her mom." I tell him.

"And Laurie knows already?" He asks curiously.

"No not yet but I plan on telling her soon. I'm really excited. I just want to see her happy and smiling. She deserves this." I smile. I know exactly what to do.

~time skip~

We enter Chipotle, Laurie and I hand in hand.

Jonah and Zach run to the queue. I can tell they are craving for Chipotle.

With Laurie, we go and look for a table. Once we find one, we sit down and wait for the others to arrive so that we can go and order our food.

"So Dimples." I start off. "Yeah?" She looks at me as she plays with my hand. She does it always when she gets bored or nervous.

"So I know you were busy these past few days and that you don't have time, but in a week it's your mom's birthday." I pause and look at her to see if she has an expression. She just looks confused so I continue and take out two boarding passes from my pocket.

"And I was wondering like you were missing your family, I booked us a flight to Portland, Oregon." I finish.

She is shook. At first I can't decifer her expression but a few seconds later her mouth breaks in a smile and kisses me instantly.

It's a different kind of kiss. It feels different. It's something different. (HA. ;))

"Oh my god thank you thank you thank you thank you thank you thank you thank you." She squeals hugging so tight I think my bones might break.

"Anything for my princess." I brush her nose with mine. I hug her back and smile wider. I love seeing her happy. It makes my day.

"When is the flight?" She asks taking a close look at the boarding passes. "In five days. So you should start to pack because we're staying there for a week because I know you take centuries to pack."

She just looks at me and smiles wider. "Thank you so much you have no idea how much this means to me." She leans her head on my shoulder.

I stroke her hair. "Trust me, I know." We just sit in silence for a while. "Oh and don't tell anything about this to your family, it's supposed to be a surprise." She nods.

"Can I tell Andre? So that he can pick us up at the airport and help us with the surprise. Who knows maybe they are not home that day." She tells me still leaning on me.

"Yeah of course. Just don't let your mother know." She nods again.

Corbyn arrives at the table with his food. "Okay you lovebirds. You should go and get your food. Jack already ordered for you." He says putting his food on the table.

"Okay thank mate." We both get up and Jack joins us.

"Dan buddy I ordered what you usually take for you and Kiwi I just ordered what I thought you would like." He walks away.

I look at Laurie and she just shruggs.

As we arrive to get our food, we see Zach and Jonah struggle carrying everything they are going to eat.

We both laugh as we see Zach trip and nearly fall. Typical.

Laurie lets go from me and heads to the bathroom. I'll just get her lunch.

Man I'm excited for what will happen in three days. After all this time (always) I'm finally going to see Laurie's family and mine. It's been such a long time.
