Laurie's POV:We get out the car and walk to the beautiful lake, one of my favorite places to be during childhood.
I look our surounding with amaze. It's been so long since I last came here.
Daniel intertwines his fingers with mine. I look at him. "Thank you for bringing me here. It's been so long." I sigh, taking a deep breath right after.
"You're welcome. And I know, last time we came here together was almost three years ago." He says, his blue eyes staring the lake.
"Wow. Time passes by so quickly." I state, letting my thoughts speak. Daniel nods. "It does."
We spend some time walking around the beautiful lake, enjoying each other's presence and talking about life.
Talking to Daniel is one of my favorite things to do. When I speak, he listens attentively. And when he does, it's amazing how he talks about what he is thinking, what he is feeling. I can spend my time listening to him talking about what's going through his mind. (I can spend my time, feeling all the reasons.)
Talking to each other makes me feel like I can trust him and that I can be trusted which to me makes our relationship stronger than others.
We tell each other our deepest secrets, our opinions. When I'm with him, I'm not scared to express myself because I know he would not judge my way of thinking, my way to interpretate things.
This is what I love from our relationship, we are a couple, but also best friends.
We spend a good amount of time by the lake, until my stomach starts to grumble.
"Let's go. I have to take you somewhere else." Daniel pulls me to the car.
After a ten minute drive with Daniel humming to the songs on the radio, we arrive to a really familiar place.
Once I recognise where we are, my eyes widen.
Before I can say anything, Daniel drags me to the entrance.
We enter the small but artsy cafe hand in hand.
"Millie!" I run to the old lady that has been running the place for as long as I remember.
"Laurie!" She greets back and hugs me. "My god you've grown up." She cups my face in her hands and studies my features.
"It's been so long. Daniel!" She immediately reaches out to hug him. He hugs her back.
"We missed you Millie." He says pulling apart.
"Lately Anna has been coming but it's not the same without the three of you together." She says sadly.
Daniel, his sister Anna and I used to have this tradition every wednesday to take a coffee or eat a cupcake in this little cafe. We would sometimes take pictures because this place is very aesteticly pleasing. It's very rustic and unique.
There are not much places like this one anymore. It's all been replaced by Starbucks, McDonalds or others. I do love junk food and Starbucks, but I miss coming to places like this one.
Millie sets a small table near the window for us and leaves us to prepare our drinks and our cupcake.
Daniel is just staring at the place realising it hasn't changed much. I take advantage to take out my phone and snap a picture of him offguard.
I check how it turned out and see that it came out really good.
In the picture Daniel is looking outside the window, with his white beanie, wearing his black jacket, with sparkling blue eyes and his signature smile.
I smile looking down at my phone at how cute and handsome he looks.
"What are you smiling at?" Daniel asks, clueless.
I show him the picture and his mouth instantly breaks into a smile.
"You're a great photographer darling." He states.
"Why thank you." I nod my head politely.
"Could I use this picture to post it in my social media?" He asks with his failed british accent that makes me giggle.
"Of course." I say holding his hands and smiling at him.
"I always knew you two would end up together." Millie says bringing our food and coffee.
I smile at her. "And I know that you two will last a long time. Longer than you expect." She leaves us alone once again.
Today has been full of throwbacks, memories. Today was perfect. Thanks to Daniel. As much as I hate leaving this place, I am glad to remember some memories, but also create some new ones.
I keep on thinking about what Millie said. I hope it's true. To be honest, I can't picture myself with someone else other than Daniel in my future. I know we are young, but I trust Daniel and he trusts me. What if we can make it through?
