Chapter 45: Anything for you

Laurie's POV:

I open the door and enter the cafeteria, my eyes scanning the room searching for my mom.

I walk to the wonderful lady in her waitress uniform and hug her.

"Happy 43th birthday mom." I tell her squeezing her tighter.

"Awh thank you sweetie. You didn't have to come you know that right?" She kisses my cheek.

"Well, you left home early for work and I didn't manage to say happy birthday to the most hardworking mom on earth so of course I had to come." I smile at her.

"What did I deserve to have amazing children like you." She puts a hand on my cheek.

"How did I get this lucky to have this phenomenal mother." I hold her hand.

"Let's go home." I tell her pulling her arm.

"I can't."

"Why not?" I ask. "I have to work." She puts her head down.

I remove the pencil that's holding her hair up in a bun to make it fall down on her shoulders.

"Take the day off. It's your birthday and you should rest so we can celebrate tonight." I put my hands on her shoulder.

"But-" "No buts. I already talked to your boss. You have the day free today and tomorrow. Come on. Let's go." I pull her once again by the arm but this time, she comes.

I turn the door knob opening the house to reveal complete emptyness. I mean there is absolutely no one. The furniture is still there though.

My mom looks at me confused.

"They all went to the mall earlier and for a walk." I lie responding to what she was thinking.

She nods as she yawns.

"Come on. You should get some rest." I pull her to her room and lay her down.

I close the door after I'm sure she is asleep.

I walk back down and take out my phone.

Princess Dimples☺️❤️: she's asleep.

Prince Cv😘❤️: perfect! We're setting up the place now. Tell us when she wakes up. Love you😘❤️

As I am about to switch off my phone, I receive a message from Jonah.

Hoenah💁: stop texting your bf he is not focusing on setting the things up and he is smiling like an idiot

Hoenah💁: and that's just creepy

Kiwiii🥝: Awwh let him be cute. But okay I'll stop just because we need to prepare everything

I turn off my phone smiling and suddenly hearing my mom's snoring heavily from her room.

I'm interrupted while reading by my mom's phone ringing.

"Hello?...yeah...oh ok...yeah I'll be there soon." I faintly hear her voice from her room.

"Laurie sweetie I have to go to the cafeteria there's an emergency. I'll be back soon." She comes in my room putting her coat on.

"Oh. Let me drop you off." I say getting up and putting on my shoes.
