Laurie's POV:I wake up and get ready for school. I did my usual routine and head downstairs to have breakfast. I'm a little early comparing to other days so I have more time to eat a proper breakfast.
Once I finish, I receive a text message from Alexa. 'Hey girl. I'm outside.' I read in my phone. I head towards the entrance and say goodbye to everyone. "Alexa is giving me a ride to school. Bye guys." They all wave at me and I walk to Alexa's car.
I enter in the passenger seat. Thomas is in the backseat. "Hey dumbheads how's life." I shout entering the car. When I'm with my friends I'm very loud and annoying. I do that in purpose to annoy them.
"Hey Kiwi." Thomas says from behind me. "Why are you calling me that I don't like it." I say turning to him. "I find it cute." Alexa laughs.
"Yeah and plus, we don't have an actual nickname for you." I roll my eyes. We drive to school and we get out of the car. I sigh.
"You okay Kiwi?" Thomas asks concerned. "I don't know Tom. I mean, Daniel is coming back and we haven't talked since the fight. I feel nervous."
"Well he did try to text you but you ignored him." Says Alexa behind me. I sigh again. "Hey it's going to be fine. If anything happens, we're here for you." Thomas winks at me and gives me a conforting hug. I smile.
"Thank you guys. You're the best." "Oh I know." Alexa flips her hair. We all laugh. I enter the school and Tom and Alexa are each on my side.
We head to our lockers and grab our stuff. I feel relieved for the moment that I haven't crossed paths with Daniel. Yet.
The bell rings and we go to our first class. Thankfully I have every period with Alexa or Tom or both except for music. I have math first with Thomas.
We enter and sit in our usual places. The class begins but in the middle of it, we hear a knock on the door. I begin to get nervous. Maybe it's Daniel.
I'm not wrong.
Thomas notices that I'm nervous and grabs my hand tighly. "Hey it's going to be fine." I take a deep breath and just draw random things on my notebook trying to ignore the situation.
"Hey class. I think you remember Daniel Seavey right?" I hear the principal say. I look up and the whole class nods.
"Well he is back after participating on American Idol and I would like you guys to help him integrate himself in the school again since he was several months gone." I sigh. A few moments later, I see him enter.
The whole class starts clapping at him and congratulating him. I clap as well. I take a better look at him and see he didn't change much.
I see his eyes scan the room and they land on me. We stare in each other's eyes for a moment until I look away holding Thomas' hand tigher.
Thankfully all the seats near me are occupied so he has to sit it the other side of the classroom.
The class continues and for once I pretend to pay attention trying to ignore Daniel. I would sometimes talk to Thomas during class. "Hey Kiwi, pst." I hear Thomas say.
I raise my eybrows asking him what. "Daniel is staring at you nonstop." I roll my eyes. The bell rings indicating us that class is over. We head out quickly avoiding Daniel. "Kiwi! Where are you going so fast?" I sigh.
"Can't you see that I'm avoiding Daniel?" "Oh right sorry." He follows right behind me and we head to grammar class and Thomas and Alexa have it with me.
Lucky for me Daniel isn't in it. We meet Alexa on our way to our class. She notices I am really anxious of entering the room so she didn't ask anything.
We enter and sit far from the front where the chalkboard is. The teacher is absent so we have free period.
"Okay now tell me what is wrong." Insits Alexa. Thomas explains to her everything and at the end she keeps thinking. "Before we start talking about whatever we need to give him a nickname. We never know."
"Unicorn." I whisper-yell.
They both laugh. "You always come up with weird nicknames don't ya." Laughs Tom. "Oh stop it Toothpick. You came up with Kiwi. And I don't know why I have that nickname." I pout like a kid jokingly.
"But why am I Toothpick?" "Because you are fricking skinny. But in a good way. No offense." "None taken." we laugh.
"So what happened with the Unicorn?" Asks Alexa. "Well for the moment nothing apparently. We just looked at each other like strangers." I say.
"Pff don't lie Laurie you guys stared into each other's eyes forever. I saw chemistry there." Thomas blurts out. I stare at him mad.
"No we didn't and it was really awkward." "Oh my god you just confirmed you stared into each other's eyes." Squeals Alexa. I facepalm myself.
"My ship is sailing." She starts singing. I'm pissed off.
I raise my hand and ask the supervisor if I can go to the bathroom because I didn't feel well. "Sure sweetie. You are dismissed." I smile, grab my things and head out. I'm really mad.
I lock myself in the bathroom and think about the situation until the bell rings telling us it was lunch-time. I take a deep breath and go to my locker. I open it and I just hear people screaming.
"Welcome back Daniel!" The whole school yells. I roll my eyes as I see a big sign where it said 'Welcome Back Daniel Seavey! Congratulations' held by some students. I close my locker and see Alexa and Thomas.
I turn my back to them and begin walking but I saw Daniel so I turn back and I am facing my friends.
"Oh god Laurie I didn't mean to hurt you, I'm sooo sorry please forgive me. I promise I won't bother you with the Unicorn ever again unless you want me to." I sigh. "Of course but please don't do it again." I hold out my pinky.
"Pinky promise Kiwi." I laugh. I hug them. They smile at me but their smile suddenly turn into a frown.
I wonder why. "Hey Laurie." I hear someone say behind me.
I turn around and see Daniel.
