Chapter 49: She can't know

Laurie's POV:

It's been a couple weeks since we arrived from Portland, since our one month anniversary.

I won't deny. That whole vacation week did give me some inspiration to write new music.

I spent some time with Krista which was great. I'm glad to have made another friend here in LA to spend time with while Alexa isn't here.

Alexa is coming in two weeks or so and to be honest, I'm so excited for her to come back. I'm missing her too much and her goofiness as well.

Also, next week it's my birthday. I'm turning 18. Wow. It feels so important. I can finally say I'm "grown up" eventhough I still have the mentality of a eight year old kid.

I don't really plan on making a huge event, maybe just spend some quality time with my closest friends, the Why Don't We boys and my boyfriend included.

Today we plan on going to the mall to go shopping, to just hang out. And Krista is tagging along.

I plan on going walking because it's not that far away.

I walk out of the building where I live and suddenly see a car pull over. Daniel comes out of the car with his black round shades looking like a stud.

I raise my eyebrow and smile.

"I thought maybe I could give you a ride." He smiles innocently.

"Why not?" I smile wider and Daniel opens the passenger door for me to get in. "Thank you kind sir." I smirk. "You're welcome m'lady." He bows before running to the driver's seat.

"Damn my boyfriend be lookin' fine." I state wiggling my eyebrows and giving him a sweet kiss once he gets in the car.

"Well, I have to look good for my girl right?" He pecks my cheek.

"Okay Seavey, let's go. Or else the others will complain." I sit back and plugging the aux cord in my phone.

We meet with the other boys and Krista in front of Starbucks.

"Let me guess. Jonah wanted to take some coffee right?" I say greeting everyone.

"Yup." Krista nods.

"So, where to next?" I ask.

We go in several stores all of us together and sometimes we split in small groups.

I hoped to pair up with Daniel but he chooses to go with Krista instead.

'They are just friends calm down.' I say to myself. I feel some jealousy build inside of me.

This whole time, Daniel just talked with Krista. They laugh, they spend some great time.

Since we left from Starbucks, Daniel and Krista didn't tell me a word. Weird.

I decide then to go with Corbyn and Zach instead.

"Hey boys. Guess I'll be third wheeling with you." I walk to them.

"What about-" Zach starts saying before seeing that he is with Krista and stops himself. He gives a look at Corbyn. He just nods.

"Why don't we go to Forever 21?" Corbyn proposes in a serious tone.

I try to hold my chuckle. "Sure let's go." I say glancing a last time at Daniel that is showing something to Krista on his phone before walking off.

Corbyn and Zach share one last glance before following me.

They are hiding something.

We get in the store and I pick out a random shirt and sprint to the fitting room.

What is going on? Did I do something wrong for Daniel to go with another girl other than me?

I should stop overreacting. I trust Daniel.

I try on the shirt I randomly picked and realise it's a men shirt.

Not gonna lie, I picked the right size.

I go out and put the shirt back to its place.

I search for Zach and Corbyn in the store but instead see Daniel and Krista talking, more like whispering.

I approach slowly and hide close enough to listen.

"She can't know about this. Not yet." Daniel whispers.

What is he talking about?

"Of course not. She can't know about this ever. Not even suspect. If not everything would be ruined." Krista replies.

"I hope the boys won't tell her anything about it." Daniel says back before walking away.

I stand there confused. This better not be what I think it is. Is Daniel...?

"Laurie! Where were you? We were looking for you. And what are you going kneeling down?" Zach appears out of nowhere yelling.

I facepalm myself. "I was in the fitting room and..." I pretend to pick up my phone. "I dropped my phone. I'm so clumsy." I say getting back up, hitting my head with a table in which some shirts were on top of it.

"Oh okay. Corbyn is looking for something for Christina. Mind helping him?" He asks holding his laugh because I hit my head.

"Sure. I guess he is in the women's section right?" I follow Zach.
