Once it was safe again, Tyler closed the bedroom door, being sure to lock it this time. He carefully opened the closet door. "She's gone, you can come out now."
Almost cautiously, Josh stepped out of the closet. "Who was that?"
"My mom." Tyler sat on his bed, and Josh sat next to him.
"Will she be back?"
"No, she went to bed." Tyler leaned against Josh's shoulder. "Normally my brother would be sleeping in here, but he's scared of storms, too, so he's in bed with my parents."
Josh only nodded, still seeming a bit on edge.
The two boys were quiet for a moment. Tyler was a bit shaken from their almost-discovery, but at least everything was okay now.
After they had both calmed down, Tyler and Josh started talking again. They moved from sitting next to each other to laying next to each other to huddled against one another under the blankets of Tyler's bed. Josh was nice and warm, and before too long Tyler found himself feeling sleepy. He nuzzled his head into the other boy's chest. "Josh?"
Smiling, Josh kissed Tyler's head. "Yeah?"
"I'm kind of sleepy..." Tyler yawned, one of those tiny yawns that people always either find adorable or tease you about. Tyler had always had a kitten yawn, and he hated it.
Josh must have been the kind of alien to find it adorable, because his smile grew broader, and he kissed Tyler.
Tyler kissed back for a second before Josh pulled his lips away. He held Tyler close to his chest, and nestled his head into Tyler's fluffy brown hair. "Goodnight, Tyler."
"Goodnight, Josh." Before Tyler could manage another word, he fell asleep.
