Since it was still raining, albeit not as much as yesterday, Tyler's only chores for the day were checking for eggs and feeding the chickens with Jay. He rinsed and filled the water bowls while Jay poured the chicken feed into the other bowls.
Tyler's body ached throughout, but somehow it still just wasn't as bad. He was almost proud of it, in fact, which even he had to admit was a little odd.
While Tyler rifled through some unoccupied nests for eggs, he heard the sounds of an upset chicken, and turned to find Jay cuddling with Jenna. He almost told him to stop, like normal, but Jay looked so happy, holding that chicken in his lap with the biggest smile on his face. Tyler was in such a good mood, too--he didn't want to spoil anyone else's.
After Jay eventually let Jenna go, he and Tyler both finished checking for eggs and brought the basket inside. Tyler hung his raincoat on the coat rack, and went to his room.
His bed looked different, somehow, although it also looked exactly the same.
Tyler sat down. He was tired, but it was way too early in the day for a nap. Briefly, he realized that he'd never been tired enough to take a nap before Josh. It was probably all the bruises, all the late nights staying up.
He didn't know what to do with himself. Draw? Write?
In the end, he just turned on the radio and laid down on his bed, wishing Josh was still there with him.
