I told Tori everything except for the unexpected kiss, of course.
"This is getting really bad." Tori was walking back and forth with me feeling guilty.
"They are now after you and if they try to hack into Sam's documents, it means he already finds out that you're possibly alive."
"They haven't gotten the files."
"Not yet. I'm sure he wants to ensure if you're Lillian or not." Tori huffed a big sigh. "Not to mention, Harvey's annual celebration is next week."
"Isn't it kind of like a masked ball or a party for the elites?"
"Yes. And we have to attend no matter what. We can't prevent you from going because..." Tori didn't finish her sentence and she didn't look at me in the eyes.
"Because?"
"Promise not to be mad, okay?" Tori bit her lips nervously with guilt on her face.
"What is it?"
"Well... H-He needed someone to b-be his date and I-I couldn't t-think of anybody else...." She was stuttering and I barely understood what she had said.
"Tor." I stared at her.
"SamneededadatesoIkindasuggestedyouandhesurprisinglyagreed. Don't be mad." She rambled quickly and I couldn't even catch up.
"Say it again. Slowly this time."
"... Sam needed a date and I kind of jokingly suggested that you would be able to be one, but I didn't think he would take my suggestion seriously... "
"It's fine." I shrugged, surprisingly feeling like it was a good idea.
"IT'S WHAT?" She looked at me with big eyes.
"I said it's fine. I'm not going to be mad at you. I can deal with an arrogant and cocky date."
"Wow, expect the unexpected." She shook her head. "Make sure to stay near us or mainly Sam since he's going to be your date because we can't be careless."
Everything is typical as usual. Sam and the guys are trying to dig further into Carson's evil deeds. Tori and I can't do anything, except sit and listen to them, both of us feeling guilty because we know almost everything. There's also no signs of several big guys who were after me since that fight.
"Let's go shopping after work. We need a dress and a mask for the ball." Tori suggested when she was walking to me.
"OK. But I bet Jack has already bought them for you." I smirked at her. She blushed and her phone rang.
"Hey." She was smiling from ear to ear and I already knew who she was talking to.
"Just get married already." I shouted and she blushed even more even though he couldn't see her.
"Oh. I was about to go shopping with Liz." She turned to me and put one hand over the phone then spoke to me.
"Jack asked me if I were free after work. He wanted to bring me somewhere."
"Go with him then. The shopping can wait." I smiled at her and she hesitantly answered.
"You're sure?" I nodded and she went back to her conversation.
"We barely get a free time and we only have today. Don't you have anything to do?"
"I was thinking maybe I could hang out with Rick again." I told her and she agreed.
