"And that's how the story ends." I say and close the book. The kids clap their tiny hands.
"Alright. It's time for bed now. And this is the first and last time I will be telling you guys a story like this one." I pull the cover on them and turn on the bed lights. "I've never thought you would want to hear this kind of action and scary story."
"OK, mom. We won't ask you to read this kind of stories anymore to us since it might not be appropriate for young children, but I know that this will be my bestest bedtime story ever." Finn says, seeming to be intelligent and mature as always.
I kiss each of them on their forehead and turn off the lights. Before I go out, he asks me.
"Mom, tomorrow is Christmas Day, right?"
"Yes, honey." I smile and look at both of them.
"Mom, can we go see grandma tomorrow?" Chelsea, my six year old daughter pouts. "Grandma and grandpa always come to visit us, but we've never visited them before."
"But Chels, they are very far from us. We have to take the plane." Finn speaks up and turns to me.
"Please..." They both give me the puppy dog eyes. "Can we visit grandma and grandpa for the first time in England?"
"Alright alright! Let's go to England tomorrow, okay?"
"Yay!" They both high-five each other and cheer.
"Alright! It's time to sleep now. Have a good dream, you two." I go out of their bedroom and see him standing with his back on the wall.
"Bedtime story again, huh?" He asks.
"Yeah." I look at the book in my hand. He comes to me and puts his arm around my waist.
"I still can't believe mom writes all of this." I utter and bring my gaze to the guy near me.
"Well, her story has always been amazing and fascinating." He says and I look at the peacock picture that is carved on the diary.
"Oh, you said you were looking for the necklace, right?"
"Yes. Have you found it somewhere?" I turn to him and he pulls out a small box.
"I thought it was hard to find, but I came upon it." He opens the box and it reveals the crest of our family and an old USB.
"Thanks." I gave him a quick kiss and hugged him tightly. "By the way, the kids want to visit mom and dad tomorrow in England. Can we go there?"
"Sure, why not? Just a quick call and a private plane is ready for the four of us." He smirks and I roll my eyes over his arrogant and rigorous attitude.
"Come on, let's go to bed. We've got a big day tomorrow. Aunt Tor, uncle Jack, uncle Asher and the others are visiting mom and dad, too."
"Alright. But one question though, do you think the kids see through my act or do they think that it's just a tale I've made up?" I asked him. Mom used to read me this story and I thought that it was some fairytale, maybe not-really-fairytale at first, but after visiting the palace and realizing the same crest, this secrecy of hers is no longer working.
"Why don't we see what's going to happen tomorrow?" He smiles and we both make our way to our room, but not without him, helping me put on the necklace around my neck.
