Chapter 40

Samuel Parkinson

My face was still hardened and cold. Asher and Jack have probably inspected that since this morning.

"OK! What the heck is wrong with you?" Jack asked me as we were sitting on the lounge with me drinking almost a bottle of red wine.

I'm good with drinking alcohol. They barely get me drunk. These two joined me afterwards, but not a lot.

"Nothing." I snapped at him and took another shot.

"Nothing, really?" Asher looked at me in disbelief. "You have fired three employees this morning in four hours. How the hell this is nothing?!"

"What's wrong, man?" Jack asked again and I sighed.

I have been thinking about the things I have done and the worst is kissing Liz. It will be horrible and awkward tomorrow. Liz might even assume things like the other females do when I kissed them.

"It's nothing." I blankly stated.

"YOU, SAMUEL PARKINSON, TELL US NOW!" Asher scolded me as Jack did the same.

"OK, Fine! I kissed Liz, get it?" I groaned with a sigh and a terrible grunt.

"You what?!" They both asked me at the same time.

"I said I kissed her, goddammit!" I'm really frustrated right now.

"So, what's the problem?" Jack shrugged.

"Problem huh? Well, this is going to be horrible and awkward tomorrow since she is my PA and also one of our close friends." I grumbled with a glare.

"You like her, don't you?" They both smirked at me as I glared at them.

"Tch. I don't like her... I ... opposite of like her." I never speak like that before. I mean I never use the word 'Opposite' to describe what I want to say.

"Uh-Huh? I don't think so." Asher said and kept smirking at me as I was sending daggers at him.

"Why then?" Asher asked me with a smirk.

"UGH! SHE'S TOO COURAGEOUS, TOO SMART, TOO PRETTY, TOO SASSY AND SHE DRIVES ME CRAZY. GET IT?!" Did I just blurt it all out?

"OK. We get it! You... Really like her." They smirked at me.

"Forget it!" I grunted.

"Just admit that you fancy her, Sam." Jack said casually as Asher nodded.

"How many times do I have to say this? I don't like her." I said irritatingly.

"Then how come you visited her in the middle of the night after she had left Clark's event, huh? Not to mention, reject Clark's deal which probably brings a fortune to the company which you have been aiming for." Jack retorted back. "Plus, you almost broke into her room through the windows, even without Tori knowing... No scratch that, you did."

"Good thing she doesn't know that you were there , but she knows that you visited her again later after work." Asher spoke. "I still can't believe that an ordinary slash boyish and cold girl would make a guy like you broke into her room."

"She's also my friend and I don't want-" I am interrupted nicely by my two annoying mates here.

"Well, she has Tori. Since we're talking about you, I notice that you barely had one nightstands these previous months. Why? Don't answer that it is work and all of those s%?# because we don't believe you." Asher truthfully pointed out.

"That's because..." OK. I can't get any freaking words out of my mouth. I just realized that, too.

"Then why do you have to worry about the fact that you kissed her? You have kissed many supermodels, famous singers, pop stars and here you are worrying about a kiss with an ordinarily simple girl." Jack honestly stated.

"Yeah. What's so hard about admitting it?" Asher asked me.

"You guys just don't get it. I can't fall for anyone because I know that it will be dangerous since we have enemies surrounding us and that person is going to be in danger. As long as they don't find out what it is or I'm not having it, we're fine." I sighed and said in seriousness.

"OK. We know that they have been trying to destroy or tear you apart and we know that they haven't succeeded because they haven't found it." Jack began.

"Why do you have to worry so much about the kiss, Sam? They know that the people you have kissed or hooked up mean nothing to you." Asher asked.

"I know that, but this kiss is going to destroy our friendship. I'm sure tomorrow she is going to ask about it and might start saying things like the other girls." I sighed.

"So, you're just going to do the usual? The traditional rejection again?" Asher looked at me in disbelief.

"Maybe, but I might have to make up something, more like an excuse probably." Tomorrow is going to be brilliantly awkward. Thanks to your once in awhile stupidity, Sam! Shut up.

"Good luck then. Also we're here to tell you something important, too." Jack said even more seriously.

"What is it?" I know it is important because these two are very determined and serious talking about it.

"Five of our men were killed. Someone tried to hack into our system and get some files, but they didn't succeed. We have to double the security." Asher said.

"Do you have any idea who it is?" My temper arose when I found out five of our men were killed.

"We have to go in for further investigation, but I'm sure it isn't someone ordinary." Jack said and I nodded. We stayed there for hours later and I drove back home.

All I have been thinking since I have arrived in my bedroom is the PA who makes my life more exciting and somehow... weird.

This is really getting dangerous and risky. Ever since she came into my boring and too perfect life, that life has long gone. I have finally befriended one girl who is not from my family or Tori.

She is going to hate me now. Definitely, totally and probably will.

Why do you care so much? She is just your assistant and a friend. Just like Jack says, you have kissed many beautiful women, why bother thinking about this one sided kiss?

Yeah. She didn't kiss back which unusually made me feel kind of rejected. What's happening to me? Do I have to avoid her after I told her that it was just an anger which I had after I heard about her and that f*cking Rick guy?! Why does she have to have so many guy friends? Tori better introduces her bestfriend here to some of her female friends.

"Who are you, Liz Collins?" My mind kept asking me this question ever since I asked for a research about her.
This isn't just something I am confused about. The fact that Liz has so little information about herself is also a mystery.

"Why is she so mysterious?" I knew that I shouldn't get close to her, not just because she is Tori's friend. I would never ever give in that easily, but when it comes to this girl, my brain just won't activate.

Anger is one thing I would love to prevent. I'm not one to show my emotions or feelings towards others. I'm born with emotionlessness and coldness in my system.

Enough. This better stops.

I went to bed with a wish that Liz won't be saying any lovey dovey things tomorrow. I don't want anything, but breaking this friendship is not a good choice. I just feel she plays an important part in my life, but I don't know which part it is. Maybe I just need her in my company... I think.
