Chapter 57

Lillian Delmer

"So my father what?!" I stood up in shock. I'm not sure whether this is a good thing or a bad thing.

"Well... He left without me knowing beforehand."

Why do my parents have to be so secretive to me? I keep getting surprised and shocked everytime.

"How come they don't live in England or New York?"

"Your father, Lillian, is also a founder of all of this. We are like brothers."

"Lucas and James build this successful empire together. Some years later, your mother, Janet, came into view." Lauren let out a smile full of memories.

"Janet is the youngest daughter of the King and Queen of England. One day, they met each other weirdly. Your father was on a business trip in England and your mother was trying to escape from being forced into a marriage. A royal marriage I suppose."

"A MARRIAGE?!"

"Yes. Your father was talking on the phone when your mother hid herself in the backseat of his car. James didn't even notice or realize a thing until he arrived at his house."

"I don't know how your mother did that, but it was lucky that the car's unlocked and she hid herself very well. Trust me, James isn't the kind of guy who would like the idea of talking to new people or specifically helping them."

"I have no idea what Janet did to convince your father to help her. James had always wanted to bring her back to the royal family and exclude himself from this matter, but the sight of Janet leaving him made him feel... incomplete and... weird."

"After several years later, they fell in love and the royal family knew where Janet was. Her family had always been forbidding the two of them from seeing each other since then and there's nothing they could do. Your father had tried everything, every possible way to get her, but the king and queen didn't give him a chance."

"The day before your mother's wedding, James had made his most incredible yet impossible plan ever. He snuck into the palace and got your mom out. Lauren and I did help them with the process, but we didn't know that there's more to James' plan."

"We were handling the security and James told us he would bring your mom to live with us for awhile. However, that's not it. After they both got stuck out, we lost track of James. His communicating devices were shut off. We couldn't reach him. My team had been searching for them for hours that night. Not to mention, the difficulties when the royal family found out that their daughter was missing."

"We tried the whole night. The next morning, I had received the most unexpected news. The breaking news which was a shock. It was announced that your father's company was going bankrupt all of a sudden. When I saw the news, I immediately wanted to do an investigation. But, before I could do that, James' personal lawyer came to see me. He said that James had left everything to me. Every single property he owned, including the whole company. Everything is under my name and the whole bankruptcy was just a coverup."

"I couldn't figure out what he was doing, why he did it. He left me a letter which said that Janet and him wanted to live normally like other people do, with no worries about the enemies in the business world, no more being chased after, no more distance between them. However, he didn't tell me where he was residing and he told me not to worry about him."

Listening to Mr. Lucas telling the story of my parents made my tears trigger to fall. They have been through obstacles. Anyone does in their life.

"We had been searching for them for months... years. We had gone to every place James would hang out or might reside from time to time, but there's no presence of him. I decided to manage and run both companies and I promise that I will return everything to its rightful owner."

Mr. Lucas hands me a folder and I take it. I'm going through everything in shock with a combination of disbelief and complete silence.

In the document, there's everything that's listed as Delmer's possessions which includes a 15-hectare constructed mansion, three biggest and most successful and influential companies in the whole country, an exclusive training center, a luxurious
penthouse, etc.

How can my father own these kinds of unbelievably expensive and extravagant things?!

"W-What... H-How..." My eyes were widened to their extent. Tori and the others peered over and had the same reaction as mine.

"It's not a surprise since your father is a multi-billionaire in the whole wide world. Speaking of it, since you're related to the royals, I guarantee there's more."

"But, sir, everyone knows that my parents are dead... I'm sure the royal family do receive the information, too."

"Everyone was in confusion and shock when the news said that they were found after committing suicide. The king and queen were in grief and regrets. They have tried to do everything, even Lauren and I did, too. I know there's something going on."

"May I ask you? What did my father write to you about?" I can't help, but ask this. I have to find out every single reason.

"The letter was about you. He told me to take care of you, but the letter wasn't complete. It was as if he was writing it in a hurry. The letter discontinued at the part where he should have told me where you were."

"How about the royal family? What happened?" Sam spoke up for the first time.

"First, when they found out that Janet ran away, they almost disowned her. However, her siblings were very persuasive enough to convince their parents not to disown their youngest sister. The king and queen announced that they gave your parents their blessings."

Some people might not enjoy studying history, even me, I'm not fond of learning about the past. But, when the past is related to you, I'm sure you will find it very exciting yet shocking as well. Others might question why we should be learning about the past when we are moving to the future? Why don't we learn and discover more about the new things that are waiting for us in the upcoming period? Is studying history necessary?

Well, if it weren't for the information and everything about the past, wouldn't we have discovered and figured out this much? Just like my current situation, if I just focus and concentrate on my present and future, then do I have to keep changing my identity every time? Does Tori have to fake my deaths? From car accident, drowning to electric shock, suicide and more.

Learning about the past might help you with the present as well as the future. If I don't know any of my parents' story or the reason behind everything, I don't think anything can ever change. I will always be living... more like moving from place to place, disguising myself just to escape from the grasp of Carson.

"So that's why Ledwell wants her." Sam looks at the folder which is full of my dad's massive inheritance then at me with eyes that contain mixtures of indescribable feelings.
