Chapter 59

Lillian Delmer

"He's your mother's fiance's brother."

"Pardon?" I think I heard him wrong.

"It's confirmed. You're definitely deaf." Sam uttered with a what looks like a not surprised yet expressionless face.

"SAMUEL!" Lauren gave him a slap on his toned arm and he pretended he did nothing wrong and here I am, wanting to chop his too intelligent yet annoying head off and put it on a platter with coleslaw full of cockiness and bothersome as a side dish.

"What?" He acts innocently, trying to ignore my death wish for him which is apparently being displayed through my daggerlike eyes.

"SAMUEL?!" Lauren shook her head disapprovingly. If he were near me, trust me, even though I have a stupid yet gigantic crush on that big mouth, I would absolutely bury him alive.

"Anyways," He clears his throat and continues. "Since you now know who Carson's father is, then I'm sure you know the reason."

"What does it mean?" Asher asked out of nowhere, probably clueless as we all facepalmed. How come this guy can be smart and clueless at the same time?

"It means there's some kind of revenge. I think it's because Janet ran away before the wedding." Mr. Lucas explained. "It must've destroyed their reputation when it's all a cancellation."

"Is there anything we can do to help you stop Ledwell?" Tori asked and Alex, Sophia and I agreed. It's originally my problem and they're all involved. Plus, we can't sit still and do nothing.

"You can lead us to their warehouse. It's time to stop the drug trafficking." Jack said seriously.

"We're going to confront Ledwell... soon." Sam glanced at me carefully and uttered.

I'm about to open my mouth when he beats me right to it, knowing what I will say, of course.

"And you're not going to be there."

That one simple sentence either makes me sulk all day or come up with a sneaky plan to help them.

"Oh, come on!" Sophia, Tori, Tina and I groaned in protest.

Why can't we girls help in this? Don't look down on us! I just want to shout it out loud at him, but decide to go for another thought.

"I want to help confront them." Tina looked with a pout when Asher turned to her with a very serious yet concerned look which could restrain her.

"No. Help us by staying here safe and sound." I've never seen Asher like that before. Strict and serious. I assure you. He's currently playing the role of Mr. Lucas.

Tina humphed out loud and crossed her arms while she was throwing glares at Asher and in return, he gave her a strongly disapproved look.

I don't think Tina should be involved either. She's still young and she completely has nothing to do with all of this.

"I'm sure we can help with the confrontation." Sophia was trying to convince her husband, but the same as Asher, Alex gave a concerned NO-NO answer.

"But-"

"No. It's better if you girls stay here and let us handle it." Great! Now Sophia has the same reaction as Tina, except that she gave him a disappointment look to her husband.

Tori and I glanced at each other and we all know we're trying to convince them and about to do what Sophia and Tina just did.

"I-" Before Tori could get a chance to release two words out of her mouth, her extremely serious and strict boyfriend cut her off.

"Not a chance, Tori." Jack's stern statement is full of preciseness and concern and I know Tor won't stop, but according to Jack's warning look, she ultimately gave up.

I didn't hesitate no more and spoke what I wanted before getting cut off like any of the girls.

"I'm sure we can help. The more the merrier, right? Plus, it's me whom Carson wants." Wait... That didn't come out as convincing as I thought it would be.

"NO. You are not coming with us." Good, now I have successfully received a big, fat NO from the big-fat-muscled guy.

For the three guys, they have concerned yet sorry look for their girls. However, for this guy across from me, except from concerned and sorry look, he kindly gives me a possessive and that pissed off look with a very strong command coming from his deep voice that's full of authority.

"Please." I gave him a pleading look and he seemed to soften, but he still has that hard and cold look on his attractive damn face.

"No means no, Lillian." That's my cue to just shut up. He has never called me by my real name nor a complete first name like that before.

"You can't do this! Please Mr. Parkinson, if Tori, Sophia and Tina can't help, at least let me help. I'm the cause of all of this." I turned to Mr. Lucas and begged.

"I think we can..." Mr. Lucas was eyeing his son and look what Mr. Almighty did next.

"No. We can't include any of you. All you need to do to help is stay here safely." Sam made his final note. Fine! I guess I have to have my own plan then.

"And no planning to sneak out and come with us either." Sam took a glance at me, probably knew what I was thinking.

He's acting like a possessive father and a very jealous boyfriend. If he's not a guy, I think he's on his period right now.

I sighed. This is going to be hard. Neither of them agreed to let us help them.

"To make sure, you're all safe, I have assigned some of our best men to guard and protect you."

Now, it's extremely difficult. If I can't help them and they get hurt, I'm going to blame myself my whole life.

"So what's the plan then?"

Sam eyed me suspiciously and I shrugged with complete innocence.

"Alex will tell us the location of their warehouse and there will be cops with us." He started, although he was still taking glances at me. "Ledwell will be at the gathering event on Sunday."

We all discussed about the plans and now we're all dismissed.

"OK, we're done for today."

I'm almost the last one to leave the room when the person who is the only one that remains in the room calls out.

"Not you.... Lizzie." His signature smirk has finally found its rightful place. "I'm not done with you."

And I was waiting for the word yet, but strangely it didn't appear.
