Jessica's POV:
A few weeks have passed since mom has arrived back home. Although we may not be staying together anymore, Allie, Kyle, Cody and I hang out very often. My friendship with Cody has been going on well. We're becoming even more steadier day by day. Same goes with Kyle and Allie. It's great to see that from the first time these two met, they were completely shy and wouldn't say a word to each other. But now, they've become so close that when they're together they talk none stop. Finally, the day of the big game has arrived. Mom and Allie decided to come watch the game and Cody's parents as well as Kyle will be there too. After the game, Cody is throwing a big party over at his place. He invited me personally the other day at lunch. Although I'm not really a big fan of parties I still agreed to go. That is because Cody kept on persuading me to come. He kept on giving me puppy dog faces and it even went to the extent where he said he would cancel the party if I don't come. Of course finally I agreed to come. I wouldn't want to make the rest of the school disappointed because of me. I was a bunch of nerves the entire day and I wasn't even playing in the game. I was only doing cheer leading. Maybe because I was going to be the highlight of the show as I had a solo routine. One small mishap and everything would be ruined. It will only lead to embarrassment. I wonder how Cody and the entire team must be feeling. An hour before the game, all the cheerleaders were gathered in one of the classrooms getting ready and finalizing our routine. "Jess, your routine's perfect. Don't worry." Marie reassured me as I practiced my solo routine. "I know Marie. I'm just nervous. It's because it's been a while since I last performed in front of a huge crowd. And I certainly do not want to let Mrs. Anderson down." "You will do just fine. We know it." Stephanie said and Kayla nodded in agreement. But no matter what they said, I still was full of nervous. They eventually gave up trying to do so and Chloe said: "You're never gonna be listening to us Jess. But there is someone whom you will definitely listen to. And that person is waiting for you outside. You should go see that person now." And with that she pushed me towards the door. I walked outside to see Cody outside: "Cody what are you doing here? Aren't you supposed to be with your team?" I asked confused. "I came here because Stephanie called me to come meet you." He replied. "Why on earth would they call you? Don't they know that you should be with your team right now?" I asked. "Well, apparently she said that she had no choice but to call me because you were freaking out and nothing they did was able to calm you down." He said and I sighed. "Well why are you freaking out for?" Cody asked. "Well, I'm just a bunch of nerves for tonight. It's been a while since I last did cheer leading in front of a huge crowd. On top of that, I have a solo routine to perform. I'm afraid that I might make a mistake in front of everyone out there." I said honestly. "You'll do fine. I know it. I've seen you practice Jess. You've put your heart and soul into your practice. Your routine will be perfect." Cody said. "But what if my nerves kick in? What if I fall? What if everyone laughs at me? One small mistake would let Mrs. Anderson down Cody. And I don't want to do that. She has put high hopes on me and I certainly feel pressured to do the best I can." "What if you do great? What if your routine is flawless? What if your routine makes the crowd on their feet cheering for you? And what if Mrs. Anderson is proud of you? Honestly, Jess. You just need to put all questions aside and think positive. Positivity goes a long way." Cody said. He did have a point there. I took a deep breath and let out a huge sigh. Maybe I am worrying a little too much. Maybe I should just relax a little. "Maybe you're right Cody. I should relax and calm down a little." "That's my girl. Now we're talking." Cody said. I turned to him and asked: "How about you? Aren't you nervous for tonight?" Cody replied: "Honestly, at first I was a little nervous and worried. Our opponents are actually quite a strong team from what I've heard. But seeing how much the team has practice and how fun we've come, I am fully confident that we can win this game and I know that we will do our very best and make our school proud." He said and I smiled. "Thanks for the confidence booster Cody. I really needed it." I told him. "No problem Jess. Glad I could help." He said. "I'd better get back and get ready for the big game." He continued. "Then what are you waiting for? Go get em' Christian." I told him and patted his back. "I surely will." He said and winked at me. Before he left, he turned around and asked me: "Are you gonna be there for the party? You're not gonna ditch me last minute aren't you?" I smiled at him and said: "Definitely not." He smiled in relief and said: "Great. Meet me after the match. I'll take you to my house." "Don't worry. I will. Now go get ready for your the big game." I told him and wished him good luck again before he left. I turned around to enter the room smiling. All it needed was some positive energy from a good friend like Cody to make my day better.
