Jessica's POV:

I woke up after a nice and refreshing sleep last night. After brushing my teeth and washing my face, I went downstairs to have breakfast. Cody promised that he would come by today to spend the day with me. I went into the kitchen to see mom sitting at the dining table. "Morning mom." I said as I slipped into one of the chairs at the table. "Oh hey, honey. I didn't know you were awake." She said. She sounded nervous and I wonder why. "Mom is there something you want to talk to me about?" I asked her. "I do. But before I say anything, I want you to read this letter." She said and handed me an envelope. I opened it and read the letter. This was what's written in the letter:

Dear Jessica,

I know it's a little too late for me to be writing this but I want you to know how truly sorry I am. I know that you had high hopes on me and I failed you as a father. I just wanted to inform you that I have moved to London and managed to find out where you live with the help of a friend. I know what I did was wrong and hurt you. I also know that a thousand apologies won't be enough for whatever damage I have caused. I just have one thing to ask: I want to be in your life again. Will you allow me to do so? Would you give me a second chance? I really want to make it up to you if you'd give me a chance. Hope you would consider everything mentioned in this letter. Here is my address if you feel like visiting. You are always welcomed to come see me.

From:

Your dad

I looked up at my mom who was watching me nervously. "This letter came in the post about a month ago. I was thinking about giving it to you but I was scared to see how you would react upon reading it. And besides, the past month has had quite a toll on you. I now know that it's wrong to be keeping this letter away from you any longer. Whatever decision that you make after this is totally your choice. I will never be against it." She told me. "Thanks mom. But I really need to think this true." I said. "Take your time Jess. Whatever decision that you make, just remember that I will always be there to support you." She said and walked away. I put the letter aside and went and made myself a bowl of cereal. After breakfast, I went back upstairs to have some alone time. During that time, I kept on thinking about everything that was written in the letter. What should I do? I was beyond confused. Suddenly my bedroom door opened and Cody came in. "Hey Jess!" He said cheerfully. But that cheerfulness vanished as soon as he saw my face. "Is something wrong" He asked me concerned as he took a seat next to me on the bed. I didn't say anything but just handed him the letter for him to read. "Are you sure about me reading this letter Jess?" He asked. "Go for it Cody. I've already given you the permission to read it." I said and he nodded. He read the letter in total silence. After he had finished reading it, he turned to me and asked: "What are you planning to do?" "That's what I'm so confused about." I told him. "I have no idea what to do." Cody thought about it for a while and said: "I think you should go talk to him. Maybe then, you'll find the closure you need. Because I know that all you need now is closure." He was right, I really needed closure. If that meant having to talk to my dad that meant that I have to do it. "I'll talk to my dad on one condition." I told him."Will you follow me?" I asked him. "Yeah I would definitely follow you Jess." He said. "When do you wanna go meet him?" He asked. "Right this very instant." I said. "Sure let's get going then." He said. After about half an hour later, we finally found my dad's house. I was nervous when we pulled up in front of his driveway. Cody must have sensed that because he took my hands in his and said: "Jess, I know you're afraid but there is really nothing to be afraid of. Just follow your heart and you will know the words you have to say. I'll be here if you ever need me." He said. I nodded and stepped out of the car. I took a deep breath and turned to look at Cody. He gave me an encouraging smile and I returned it. I slowly made my way to the front door. I rang the door bell and waited. Minutes later, the door opened and revealed a woman standing in front of it. This must be my dad's new wife. "May I help you?" She asked me politely. "I'm here to meet my dad." I said dryly. "Oh, you must be Jessica Williams. My, what a fine girl you are." She complimented me. "My name is Daisy. Would you like to come inside?" I shook my head. "I would rather stay outside. I just wanna have a quick word with my dad that's all." She nodded and said: "Your dad is upstairs. I'll go get him." And she left in search of dad. Minutes later, my dad was standing right in front of me. "Jessica is that you?" He asked in disbelief. I nodded. "You've become much more prettier than the last time I saw you." He said. "That's what happens when you leave. People change." I said. But my dad still looked the same from before only just a little more tired and unhappiness was evident inside. "Come in Jess." My father told him. "No thanks. I just want to have a chat and end things here itself. Besides, my friend is waiting for me." I told him. "I see. Have you met Daisy yet?" He asked. "You mean the woman who made my mom's life unhappy? Yes I have." I told him. "Are you happy with her dad? Was she worth is leaving us?" I asked. "No she wasn't. I know but I'm sorry Jess. I truly am. I just want you to forgive me." He said. "You know, dad I was unhappy all these days. I never knew why. But now I know the answer . I hadn't let go of you just yet. Your betrayal kept on haunting my life. Now, with the help of my best friend, I finally learnt that closure is the only way for me to be happy again. I realized that it was best for me to let go and move on. And that's what I did. And when I did so, I felt happiness again after so long dad and I don't want to lose it. I forgive you dad but things will never be the same ever again between you and me." I told him. "I understand Jess. And I will never be against your will. As long as you're happy is more than enough for me." He said sadly. "Goodbye dad." I said before leaving. "Goodbye Jess." He said before I walked away. I entered the car and immediately Cody bombarded me with questions: "How did it go? What did he say? Did it end good?" "It ended well. I finally got the closure I need." "That's good to hear. Are you happy now Jess?" He asked once again. "I am happy now Cody." I said and smiled. And we remained silent throughout the ride back home. I was so relieved that finally I got the closure that I wanted with my dad.
