Jessica's POV:

My first day of school was going smooth so far. At lunch, Chloe invited me to sit with her. She introduced me to her friends: Kayla, Stephanie and Marie. They were all very nice and we eventually bonded. At the end of the school day, Chloe asked me: "Hey are you by any chance good at cheer leading?" "I used to be in the cheer leading squad at my previous school." I said. "That's good. Care to join the school cheer leading squad? We're having tryouts right after school." Chloe said. "I don't know." I said. "Please? I promise you it will be worth it. And besides, you can even get to know the others and even make new friends." Chloe pleaded, reasoning with me. "Ok fine.I'll just call my mom and let her know that I'll be staying back." I said. "Thank you so much." Chloe said and gave me a hug. I excused myself and went to call my Mom. My mom was thrilled when I said that I was going to tryout for the cheer leading squad. She said it was alright and she will pick me up after the tryouts were over. Once I ended the phone conversation with mom, I went to find Chloe. I eventually found Chloe with the rest of the gang. And together we made our way to the field where the tryouts were being held. But before that, we stopped by the locker room and got changed into more comfortable clothes. I decided to do a little warm up before the tryouts started. "Hey are you nervous?" Chloe asked me. "Yeah a little." I said. "Don't be. You'll do great. We know it." Kayla said and Stephanie and Marie nodded in agreement . While we were still talking, my name was called out indicating that it was my turn. I performed my favourite routines of all time: a standing backhandspring full and a front punch roundoff handspring double full. I did it with full confidence. Once I was done, I was given a huge applause even the judges seemed impressed. "You were amazing."Stephanie said as I went to take a seat with them. "Hopefully that was good enough to make the team." I said while taking a sip from my water bottle. "Are you kidding me? That was awesome! You'll definitely make the team for sure." Kayla said confidently. After the finally tryout the coach, Mrs. Anderson began to announce the girls who made the team. I grew even more nervous as all the names were called out. Mrs. Anderson reached the end of the list but my name wasn't even called. I was seriously disappointed. But Mrs. Anderson was not done yet. "I know that we have picked all the members that we need but we have decided to make an exception this time. The judges and I have agreed that this person has showed off some awesome skills and totally deserves to be on the team. I would totally be upset if I didn't have this talented young lady on the team. My hopes were high for a moment. "And the talented young lady is...." Mrs. Anderson was about to announce. I closed my eyes for a moment and hoped that I had made. "Jessica Williams." Mrs. Anderson announced. I was shocked. "You made the team Jessica." Chloe said and hugged. Kayla, Marie and Stephanie did the same. I made it. I actually made it! I proudly made my way to where Mrs. Anderson was standing with the rest of the new elected team members. And we were all presented with the official cheer uniforms. Mrs. Anderson said to the rest of the girls waiting there. "Thank you girls for your time with us. Better luck next time and I hope to see you again next year." And she turned towards the remainder of us on the field huddled in a circle. "Listen up ladies. Cheer practice begins tomorrow everyday after school. Got that?" We all nodded in agreement. "Good, you may all be dismissed." And we that we all began to leave the field. I was walking back to the benches to grab my things when I heard a voice say "Watch out!" I turned around and saw a football flying in my direction. Without hesitation, I grabbed the ball. "Nice catch." I heard a voice behind me. I turned around to see a handsome young lad right in front of me. Everything about him was perfect. But I didn't feel the least bit intimidated by him. "Looks like you guys gonna have to work on your throwing skills a little." I said and I handed him back the ball. "Fiesty one, aren't you." He said. "Yeah, I liked to be called that way." I said with full confidence. "I like that confidence. You're new around here aren't you? I haven't seen you before." "I am. But does that even make a difference?" I asked him. "No it doesn't. By the way, my name is Cody Christian, captain of the football team." He said. "Nice to meet you. I'm sorry but I gotta go my mom's waiting for me." I said and turned to leave. "Wait! I haven't even got your name." He shouted. I stopped and turned around. "You want my name? Well now you have it. It's Jessica Williams." I said. "Well, Williams. Are we gonna meet anytime soon?" Cody asked. "I hope so." I said and left. When I reached the car park, I saw my mom waiting for me. "Hey honey, how was school?" "It was great Mom. I made some new friends and I even made the cheer squad!" "Oh Honey." My mom said and gave me a hug. "I'm so proud of you. I'm glad you enjoyed your first day at school." I laid back in my seat with a smile on my face. My first day at school turned out to be better than I expected it to be.
