Jessica's POV:

I always thought that we were one happy family despite the little arguments that we had. My dad, mom, my little sister Allie and myself. That's how I always pictured my perfect life to be. Little did I know that these little arguments was the start of our lives changing forever.  Ever since I turned fifteen, mom and dad used to have frequent arguments. I didn't really think about it much at first. I thought that they were just releasing their stress at each other after a hard day's work. But things started to get out of control. Dad used to come home almost every drunk and the sight of it drove my mom up the wall. This went on for days, the happiness that was once the key to our family's relationship vanished just like that. Now it was arguments every day. There was not a day where Allie and I had not witnessed our parents fighting. It had become a daily routine now everyday. Until one day, my dad had crossed his limits. My dad had come home drunk again as usual. My mom was so mad that she started scolding my dad. This ended up in a very big argument. It was so loud that Allie and I woke up. All of a sudden, there was this loud bang and it was followed by the sound of something being thrown. Allie was terrified at those sounds and so was I. After about ten minutes, my Mom came into our room. She didn't say anything but she had two bags with her. She began packing all our belongings into the bags. "Mom where are we going?" Allie asked. "We're leaving for good." Mom replied. "Now, come let's go." Without a another word, Allie and I followed mom downstairs. We stopped dead in our tracks when we heard my dad say: "You are not leaving anywhere! You are not taking my kids away from me!" Mom then rebuked him saying: "Your kids? You should have thought about it before you went after another woman!" As soon as those words left her mouth, I felt like my whole world was about to collapse. My dad had an affair with another woman? Dad came towards us and tried persuading us: "Please don't leave me girls. You know I love you right?" Allie answered him with watery eyes. "I thought you did Dad. But now I doubt it." Then he turned towards me. "Please Jess, don't go." "What do you mean don't go Dad? If you really loved us, you wouldn't have done such a thing. I can't believe that you literally have been cheating on mom. I don't want to have anything to do with you ever again. I'm literally ashamed for having to be called your daughter. I adored you a lot Dad. You were my hero. But you just broke my heart. I never want to have anything to do with you ever again." I said crying and with that I slammed the door in his face. Then mom, Allie and I drove off not knowing where we were headed. But only one thing was in our minds: To get out of this town and never return.
