Cody's POV:
I opened my eyes to see what had happened and I immediately screamed "NO!!" Jessica was lying on the ground of me in a pool of blood. Without thinking, I dropped to the ground and held her in my arms. "Jess," I said while crying. "Why did you take the bullet?" I asked her. She smiled at me softly. "To save you." She said weakly. She slowly began to lose consciousness. "No, Jess no. Stay with me!" I pleaded with her as her eyes began to close. Julian, Carlos, Blake and Jordan rushed to my side. "She's losing a lot of blood. We've got to get her to the hospital immediately." Blake said. "Carlos, Julian, and Blake. You guys call the police and prevent these two from escaping." Jordan said. "While Cody and I get Jess to the hospital." Immediately Carlos grabbed Brittany roughly. She tried to break free but he had a strong grip on her. After much struggle, he tied her up to prevent her from escaping. In the meantime, Blake called the police and informed them of the incident. "The police will arrive soon." Blake informed us. "Good. Now help us carry Jess to the car." I said. "I'll bring the car here so that it will be easier." Jordan said and ran to get the car. Meanwhile, Julian, Carlos, Blake and I carried Jessica slowly and carefully placed her in the backseat of the car. "You guys gotta be quick, she's losing blood fast. Keep us updated. We'll be there as soon as everything here is completed." Blake said and we nodded. Jordan drove as fast as he could to the hospital. Upon arrival I shouted: "Doctor! We have an emergency!" At once the doctor came out with a team of nurses who brought a stretcher along with them. The doctor was horrified and he immediately said: "Nurses take the patient to the emergency room ASAP!" The nurses did as they were told. They placed Jessica on the stretcher and immediately wheeled her into the emergency room. Jordan and I tried to follow but the doctor told us to wait outside to enable them to carry out their duty. I sat on one of the benches outside the emergency room and began to weep loudly. Jordan put his arm around me and began to comfort me. "Don't worry Cody. Jessica is a fighter. She'll get through this and will come back to you soon." He said trying not to cry himself. "I feel so stupid Jordan. I should have been the one to take the bullet. Not her." I cried. "You can't lose hope Cody. You need to be there for Jessica's mom and sister. If you break down yourself, how will they be able to take it?" Jordan told me. "Speaking of Jessica's family, we'd better inform them about this incident now." He said. He began to diall her mom's number and passed the phone to me. "Could you please explain everything to her. I'm not quite in the mood to talk." I told him and he nodded. Jordan explained everything that happened to Jessica's mom. "She said that they will take the next flight home right away." Jordan informed me as soon as he ended the phone call. It was already evening, but the doctor still hasn't said anything about Jessica's condition. I'm really starting to get worried right now. Is something wrong with her? Will she survive? All these questions kept rushing through my mind. "Please you gotta be alright. I need you." I said silently to myself, tears running down my cheeks. At that moment, Jessica's mom, Allie, my parents and Kyle arrived at the hospital. "Where's my daughter? What happened to her? How did she end up here?" She bombarded me with many questions. Jordan sensing that I wasn't able to answer them calmly explained everything in detail to her. She burst into tears after hearing the entire story and my mom had to comfort her. I walked away, not being able to look her mother in the eye. I was leaning against a wall and silently crying to myself when I felt a tap on my shoulder. It was my dad. I looked at him. "Don't worry son. She's too young to leave us. She'll definitely survive." My father said. "But, Dad. What if she doesn't? This is all my fault. I'm the cause of her being in the hospital." I said. My father didn't say anything but just held out his arms and I hugged him and poured out all my tears on him. He just rubbed my back and tried to calm me down. A few moments, later the doctor arrived. "Jessica Williams?" He asked. Immediately, we all rushed to his side. "Doctor is my daughter alright?" Her mom asked. "I'm really sorry to say this madam. Your daughter has lost a lot of blood and is in a critical stage right now. We are trying our very best but for now it's hard to say anything. Just keep on hoping and praying that she'll be alright." The doctor said and left. Immediately, her mom began crying again. "My poor, poor Jess." She wept. "You was such a nice girl and loved by all. Who would have the heart to do such a cruel thing to you." She looked at me and hugged me. I hugged her back and we both cried. That whole day, I didn't leave the hospital. I was keen on staying there until I hear the news that Jessica's alright. Until then, I'm not going anywhere. I'll be right here until the love of my life is alright.
