Jessica's POV:

Finally the weekend was over and Monday has arrived. I've decided that from now on I'm gonna walk to and from school. At least by that way I can lighten mom's burden a little. Besides, walking will also help me to get familiar with this place which is now my new home. As I was walking, I decided to play my favourite song. Nothing like listening to good music to start the day. I put my earphones on and hummed to the beat of the song. Without me realizing, I began to sing the lyrics aloud:

"I hear you heart beat to the beat of the drums

Oh, what a shame that you came hear with someone

So while you're here in my arms

Let's make the most of the night like we're gonna die young."

I stopped when I heard someone clapping behind me. "You know you've got good looks and a great voice going with it. I'm impressed." A voice said. I turned around to see none other than Cody Christian standing right behind me. "How long have you been here?" I asked him still trying to process everything that he just said. "Long enough to here your beautiful voice." He replied and winked at me. "Are you trying to flirt with me Cody Christian?" I asked him. "Looks like you've heard about me." Cody said. "Who doesn't know about Cody Christian, the hottest guy in school also know as the player?" I said in a duh tone. "You think I'm hot?" Cody asked with a smirk. "Please Christian. In your dreams." I said. "Ouch that hurt" Cody said faking to be hurt by my reply. "But it's only just the beginning Williams. You'll be thinking I'm hot very soon. And I'm gonna change the way you think about me." He said. "Seriously Christian. I'm not gonna go drooling over you. You should know by now that I'm not most girls." I said. "You know the more you push me away, the more I wanna get to know you. And I'm not going to give up on you anytime sooner." Cody replied confidently. "We'll see about that Christian. Good luck with that. And don't forget my little challenge that I gave you the other day." I said and walked away. "I haven't forgotten the challenge and by the way game on Williams!" He shouted behind me. I just walked without another word but in my mind I kept thinking about the words that Cody said. Why does he even want to get to know me? I'm nothing special compared to the other girls in school. Why me? He doesn't even know my life story. And so far, whoever who knew my life story never stays in my life for long. Will he stay even if he finds out? I realized that I was probably thinking too much and took a deep breath to calm myself down. I then walked to school thinking that I will never let Cody in so easily.
