Jessica's POV:

I walked into Cody's room to see him sitting on the bed and going through his phone. "Hey." I said as I neared him. "Hey Jess." Cody said and motioned me to sit next to him. So I did. "What did the doctors say? Is it something serious?" Cody asked worriedly. "The doctor said that it's nothing to worry about. It's just a concussion. All you need is a little rest and you'll be fine. He also said that the main reason for your injury is because of your lack of sleep. What's going on Cody? Why aren't you sleeping well?" I asked him. "Well, ever since that fight I felt so guilty for releasing my anger at you that I found it hard to sleep at night. I stayed awake thinking of ways to apologize and make it up to you." he said. I felt guilty all of a sudden. It's because of me that Cody ended up in this situation. Maybe I shouldn't have been so cold-hearted towards him. "Cody. I'm so sorry." I apologized to him. "For what?" He asked confused. "I'm the reason you ended up here in the first place. I'm the cause of everything. I'm so sorry." I said sincerely. I hadn't even noticed that a tear slipped down my cheek until Cody wiped it away. "There now Jess. I can never be mad at you. You're the one who's supposed to forgive me for snapping at you. I should have been more cool." "But why Cody? You did nothing wrong." I argued. "Well, let's not argue about who's right or wrong now. What's important is that we should put the past aside and start fresh. Don't you think Jess?" I nodded. "So friends again?" Cody asked hopefully while extending his hand to me. "Friends again." I smiled and shook his hand. "So am I allowed to play?" Cody asked me with a raised eyebrow. "The doctor said that you're not allowed to play for three weeks. You'll be completely well by then." I told him. He nodded. "Can I go home today or am I supposed to stay here tonight?" He asked me again. "Oh I almost forgot. The doctor said that you are fit to go home tonight." I informed him. His face broke into a huge smile. "How did you get to the game?" He asked me. "Well, Daniel gave me a lift. But for now, I think I'll call Blake and the guys to give us a lift back home." I suggested and Cody nodded. I then called Blake and he said that they would be in the hospital in five minutes. So in the meantime, I went outside to allow Cody to change and helped him with all his stuff. Just as promised, the guys arrived in five minutes time. they helped me to get Cody's stuff into the car. Then, Blake drove us back to Cody's house. Once we entered the house, the guys decided to leave as it was getting late. I followed them to the porch. "Goodnight Jess. Take good care of Cody. Call us if you need anything. We'll be here as soon as possible." Julian said. "Don't worry about Cody guys. I'll take good care of him. I promise. You guys have a safe drive home. Goodnight." I said as their car drove out of Cody's driveway. I went back inside to see Cody on the phone. He mouthed "Mom" to me and I nodded. I went into the kitchen to see what was there. As soon as he ended the phone call with his mom, Cody entered the kitchen. "Watcha doing?" He asked me. "Just finding some stuff. Would you like anything to eat some hot soup perhaps?" I asked him. "Yup that sounds fine enough." He replied. "Good how about you go and get some rest in your room and I'll bring the soup there once it's finished." I said and he nodded. I prepared him some soup, fetched a glass of water and his medication, put everything on a tray and went upstairs to his room. There he was lying on his bed. I woke him up gently. "Cody, your soup is ready." I said. He sat up and drank the soup. After that, I gave him the glass of water and his medication. After he had taken his medicine, I took the tray downstairs and washed the bowl and the glass. Then, I went back to his room. "So you gonna stay the night?" Cody asked me as I sat on his bed. "Yeah I am. Who will look after you if I leave?" I asked him. "I can take care of myself." Cody defended himself. "Says the guy who got stressed out over a small fight." I said mockingly. "Besides, I promised my mom that I would look after you until you're better. So no matter what you say, I'm gonna stay here until you get better." I told him firmly. "Whatever you say. Don't you wanna go get somethings from your place? And what about Daniel? Have you informed him yet?" Cody asked me. "Well, I can go get my stuff tomorrow. I have all I need for tonight. And as for Daniel, I'll text him and let him know I'll be staying the night." I reassured him. Cody nodded. I immediately pulled my phone out and texted Daniel that I would be spending the night at a friend's house. I would explain everything to him later. Then I got up to go sleep in the guest room but Cody stopped me. "Where do you think you're going?" He asked me. "I'm gonna go sleep in the guest room." I told him. "Stay here and sleep with me. I don't mind." He said. I nodded in agreement. I slept on the other side of the bed. There were two pillows separating the distance between us. "Goodnight Jess. I'm glad you're back. I missed you." Cody said. "Goodnight Cody. I missed you too and I'm glad to be back." I said. After that, we both dozed off to sleep.
