CHAPTER 40

Jessica's POV:

Prom night is finally here! I've been waiting for it to come throughout the week. I couldn't help but get excited as the days drew nearer and now that it was finally here, I was so happy that I think I could faint but in a good way. I couldn't wait to see Cody. I wonder how he would be dressed for the occasion, maybe he would look so smart and handsome that I would be drooling over him all night? I blushed at my own thoughts. It was 5:30 in the evening and Cody said that he would pick me up at 7:00. So I took a shower, and did my makeup and got dressed:

After that I applied makeup and did my hair:

I checked myself out in the mirror and I did look beautiful. My mom came in to check on me and she gasped: "Honey you look so pretty! Cody would be head over heels for you." She said. "Thanks Mom. I hope so." I said and looked down at the ground. She put her hand under my chin and made me face her. "Sweetie. Cody's totally in love with you. I can see it in his eyes. And I know you do too." She said. "Yes, mom I love him too." I said with a smile. "I knew it from the start. You too make a great couple." Mom said tearing up a little. "Mom why are you crying? Is something wrong?" I asked her concerned. "These are happy tears sweetie. My little girl is finally not so little anymore. She's all grown up and is the best daughter that I could wish for. And she also found the love of her life. I'm so proud of you Jess." She said and I hugged her. "Thanks mom. I love you." I said. "I love you more sweetie." She replied. Our doorbell rang and interrupted our little 'moment.' "I'll go answer the door." My mom said and went downstairs while I continued doing my last minute touch ups. Minutes later, she called: "Jess! Cody's already here." I took a deep breath and walked down the stairs slowly. I saw Cody and he looked as handsome as ever in his outfit:

He was talking to my mom. He still hadn't noticed me. As soon I reached the final stair, his eyes found mine and he gasped. I walked over to the two of them and stood beside my mom. "You two look fabulous. Stay here. I need to get some picture of the two of you." My mom said and went inside to get her camera. I turned around to follow her when I heard Cody say: "You look stunning Jess!" I blushed and turned around to face him. "Thanks you look good yourself." I complimented him and he flashed me a smiled showing off his pearly whites and my cheeks turned red again. Thankfully, my mom came back with her camera. "Stand together you two." She told and we did like we were asked. After posing for about twenty pictures, I pulled Cody and said: "Goodbye mom. See you later." And then we walked out of the door. I heard her shout before we left: "Goodbye guys. Have fun!" We got into Cody's car and drove off to school. There was an awkward moment of silence until Cody spoke up: "I really meant what I said Jess. You look stunning." He told me again. "Thanks Cody." I said and played with my fingers as I was shy to look up at him. And it was like this until we reached school. As soon as we reached school, Cody got out of the car and opened the door for me. He held out his hand and said: "My lady, shall we?" I giggled at his actions and reached out for his hand and made our way to the hall.

Cody's POV:

I walked into the hall, hand in hand with Jessica. She looked so gorgeous tonight. I seriously couldn't take my eyes off her. I'm so glad she's my date. We made our way to the rest of the gang and talked. Although the guys and I were indulged in a conversation, my eyes kept trailing back to look at Jessica who was laughing away with the girls. Everything about her was beautiful. Suddenly a slow song began to play and most of the couples were already on the dance floor. I cleared my throat and walked towards Jessica: "Would you like to dance Jess?" I asked her. "Of course Cody." She replied. I took her hand and together we walked to the dance floor and began to slow dance. I placed my hands on her waist and she threw her arms around my neck. We both stared into each other eyes as we danced. I finally plucked up the courage to ask her what I've been waiting to ask her for a long time. "Jess.." I began and she looked at me. "There's something I've been meaning to ask you." I continued nervously and she nodded signaling me to continue. "You're an amazing girl Jess and I've fallen head over heels for you. You're not like most girls and I like that." I paused a while before continuing. "So, Jessica, will you be my girlfriend?" I looked into her eyes hopefully. "Yes. I'll be your girlfriend Cody." She said and I beamed in delight. Our faces were inches apart. Slowly, I leaned in and kissed her. She kissed me back and I felt sparks inside as we kissed. It was short but passionate. We pulled away and rested on each other foreheads. "I love you Jess." I told her. She looked up at me and smiled before saying: "I love you too Cody." and placed her forehead back on mine again. And the rest of the night, we just enjoyed each other's company, dancing and talking. It was the best night of my life because I finally made Jessica mine officially.
