Viciuos denial

James groused at the bar, he had to come up with a decent excuse that his older sister would believe...what he had done was babble like a complete idiot for 10 seconds and then went rushing to his room. He groaned and pressed his head into the bar.

TAP TAP

Someone had sat themselves next to James, tapping the bar for there attention due to their lack of speech. "I'm not in the mood today Rubix...." James answered simply, laying his head back down on the bar, he was still  thoroughly embarrassed. Rubix frowned

He gently tapped his friends shoulder, James slowly looked upwards

'Are you still embarrassed about what happened?'

James gave a slow nod

'Have you spoken to Jewel since then?'

James sighed "Even if I wanted to knowing myself I would run away blushing before I even came close to talking with her!!" He crossed his arms and rested his skull "I-It just feels awkward now...." he slowly looked odd to the side "....A-And I'm worried that she may have told Remmi...I don't want to get burnt alive."

'Your a skeleton, you can't be-'

"You know what I meant!!" He sighed "I am never going to get over this..." Rubix frowned, he hated when his best pal was like this. 'Perhaps you should try and speak with her?...'

He smiled a little 'If your a couple then you should be able to-'

James promptly chocked on the air he breathed "W-What?!". Rubix tilted his head, genuinely confused by how his friend had reacted

'You're her boyfriend aren't you?'

"W-Wha-UGH!!!" James sputtered, blush rising to his cheek bones "What gave you that idea?!" Rubix blinked

'You guys sing love songs and stuff for the festivals.'

"Jewel waned to sing a love song!! I-I only volunteered to help!!" James waved his arms around, trying to look angry. Sadly the blush didn't make him look at all intimidating to Rubix.

'And she's always so touchy with you, I find it quite cute.'

"W-WHA?!" James nearly fell from his chair

'Just a few days ago I saw you two talking about your similarities with your older sibling-'

"YOU WERE SPYING?!" James yelled, his face fully flushed red. Rubix waved his hands in defence and shook his head

'Not spying, you just weren't as quiet as you thought you where.'

James groaned and slammed his head into the bar. "My. Life. Is. Over!!" With each word he slammed his head into the bar, earning a look of concern from his friend. James gave a muffled groan into the bar.

Rubix gently placed a hand on his shoulder and forced him to sit back in his chair.

'What's so wrong with that?'

James hummed, "What do you mean?"

'What's so wrong about people thinking you and Jewel are in a relationship?'

James went quiet, an odd pink had gone to his cheeks and he felt uncomfortable. Rubix waited patiently.
"Well..." he began " Im not any good with girls for one...." he sat up a little, rested his elbow on the bar, his head in his hand

"And second...." Rubix caught the sadness in his tone "Why on earth would Jewel, the child to Demi gods that control both realms of the remembered and the forgotten, feel love for someone so...." he looked down at his hands "...plain as me?"

'Your not plain.'

"Of course you would think that, your my best friend." James said glumly. Rubix pulled him to sit upwards, with a little more force then before.

'You aren't plain.'

He repeated, looking more seriously at James.

'Jewel hangs around you because you are fun to be around, you are friendly and open with those you trust and you are a very good friend.'

James smiled a little "Gee..thanks Rubix." Rubix patted his shoulder, as a way of saying your welcome. Before stinging close to a smirk came across his face.

'So...about you guys being a couple-'

"RUBIX!!!" Rubix smiled when James attempted to whack him over the head, failing as Rubi held him back with one of his overly large blue hands. James's muffled groans and outraged screaming, Rubix rolled his eyes and removed his hand from his face, he was scowling at him.

'But on the serious note, you should just talk to her. If Jewel is your friend then she will understand.'

James groaned, becoming shy and tapping his finger on the bar "Um...." he shyly peeked at Rubix "Y-You'll protect me from Remmi, right?"

'I cannot deny or promise that.'

James groaned, he really didn't want to go, knowing himself he would just embarrass himself even more then he did when this whole mess started. That and he thought that if Jewel had told her brother what had happened he would also have to deal with Xibalba...oh dear.

James sighed and leaned back in his chair, holding a hand to his forehead. He looked over at Rubix, "You really think she'll be okay with this whole thing?"

'Knowing Jewel, she probably just thinks it was cute on how you were blushing so much.'

James laughed nervously, "O-Okay, Ill try and talk to her....." Rubix patted his head

'That's the spirit!!'

James chuckled

'God I hope I don't die.'
