KNOCK KNOCK
"Amy? Honey? Can I come in?" Lewis waited outside his daughters room, there was a lengthy pause before Lewis could make out a weak 'yes'. Lewis slowly pushed his daughters bedroom door open, hearing her draw a shuddering breath as she tried to clean herself up.
It was obvious she had been crying, one eye seemed to have a certain light purple glow from the tears, the other still black and hugely swollen from where someone's fist had hit her. Lewis sat down on the bed beside her, Amy drew her legs up to her chest, rested her head on her knees.
"Hey there princess." Amy looked at him through the corner of her eye "We better get some ice on that one." Amy sniffled and wiped her jumper sleeve at her good eye "Is mom still downstairs?" She asked halfway through a another sniffle "She's gone out for some air." He looked over at her
"I think she's a bit upset." He gave her a quizzical look, but Amy did nothing but simply jump of the bed and walk out of the door. Lewis hummed and walked after her, when he found her again he found her curled up on one end of the couch, an ice pack held to her eye. He walked over and sat opposite her.
After the two sat there for a decent while he passed her a sideways glance and asked "You wanna talk about it?" Amy shook her head, but after another long pause she uncurled herself and laid her head on his leg. Lewis began to stroke her hair carefully, mentally preparing himself for what was to come next.
"Your mothers really upset you know..." Amy huffed "I don't care." Lewis rose a bone brow "Amy." Amy groaned and looked up at her dad "She said she didn't want to talk!" She turned away from him, shoving her hand in her pocket "She made that clear."
"Did you tell her what happened?" Amy paused "No, not exactly..." Lewis hummed "I see.." The two were both silent again "I just.." Amy began "I just don't want her to worry!" Lewis continued to stroke her hair reassuringly, but his tone was now a bit more somber when he spoke
"I can understand that..but you have to understand that your mother only just wants to look out for your well being." Any groaned and rolled over on her belly "Yeah I know..." She looked down at the floor "Mom can just be a major worry wort, and I don't want her to get to overprotective."
Amy had always been a stubborn one, much like him in some situations. "I know that mom cares, and that she only wants the best for me.." her tone got a little louder "But she isn't going to be there all the time!! And she isn't there to help Quintin if something goes wrong at school or something."
Lewis hummed and continued to listen, Amy sighed and pulled her legs up to her chest "I just want mom to understand that I don't want her to worry about me all the time!!" She sat up "Im perfectly able to take care of myself."
"That's just what parents are for." Lewis chuckled, thinking back on all the times when Amy was little and how she had done the most craziest things "I remember when you were just a little baby, when you first tried out a skateboard, and when you where scared of heights..." he looked over at her
"I even remover the day I first held you in my arms.." Amy groaned and blushed out of embarrassment "Your such a dork dad." Lewis chuckled "Maybe." He leaned back into the sofa
"The point is, your mother only wants to help you." He placed a hand on her shoulder "Me and your mother love you Amy, you're are only child and you're the most precious thing we own." Amy looked down, not looking her dad in the eye.
"Which is why me and her get so worried when you come home with some kind of injury." He passed a knowing look over at her bruised up eye. Amy rubbed her neck "I didn't mean to make her upset..." she looked over at her dad "I just want her to realise that I can defend for myself, I'm tougher then I look!!" She needed her sentence with a small smirk.
Lewis chuckled, God his daughter was nuts!! But she was right, she was a tough cookie. She was becoming more independent and she sure was capable of caring for herself and Quintin and Pip, but a small part of him just wanted to pull her into a hug, to tell her to stay herself and funny forever and to never grow up.
He gave a small sigh "Just try and talk to your mom, okay?" Amy hummed, "Okay dad." She chuckled "Guess I am a little stubborn when it comes to a fight." Lewis nodded his head "So.." he ruffeled his daughters hair "Did you give the other girl a run for her money?"
Amy chuckled and playfully pushed his arm away "He..." she corrected "And yes." She said proudly. "Horst for equality!!" Lewis playfully held a hand in the air, earning another chuckle from his daughter "PFFT!!! Your the biggest dork ever dad!!"
