Shadow carefully placed the letter down upon her sisters bedside table were she slept soundly. It had been months since the two had there argument about Shadows job, they had good intentions for there brother and the two only wanted what was best for him.
Shadow gave a guilty look down at her older sleeping sister, sleeping soundly and unaware of the letter she would read when she would wake. Shadow slowly leaned forward and nuzzled the side of her sisters head before quickly slipping out into the hallway.
Shadow creaked open another door and carefully stepped into the dim lighted room, her brother Pip was curled in his bed like a kitten, sleeping soundly by his night light. Shadow smiled fondly down at her brother and gave him a small kiss on his head
A smile pulled at his face in his lips, Shadow hated that she had to leave like this, in the night also. She never thought that she would have to leave her small family like this, but knowing them, or more likely her sister, they would have many words to say to stop her from leaving.
Before Shadow left the room she gave a final glance over at her brother, sighing quietly
"I'm sorry..."
She walked down the hallway, not looking up at her sisters chamber door as she went. Guilt and regret began to twist at her gut that she was sorely tempted to turn back, but she kept on forward. The guard was a hard job and it wasn't the cleanest
becoming a part of it meant long and gruelling training trips in far off lands, places that would test each skill of a guardsmen to its limits, maybe ever breaking the person entirely. Shadow had been training for months, her hard work had payed off and had been one out of a handful to be chosen to move onto the next level of training.
....training that meant leaving home.
Shadow never liked leaving home, not with the bed enough uprising they had in the dragons lands and after their mothers passing. But with this job, she could keep them safe, unlike she could all those years ago...
"Well well well..." Shadow haunted in her tracks, her ears perked. "If it isn't the second dragon sibling..." Shadow turned her head to the owner of the voice, she gave an unsure smile as the tall skinny demon prince approached
"Raven." Raven and herself weren't on good terms from the way he had acted towards his sister and the princess, not to mention going behind the council to assassinate both royals. Unsure on what to do she lowered her head in a bow, greeting him.
"At ease lizard." She growled lowly in her throat, but kept her anger contained. Raven may be an ass hat in her mind, but she couldn't be rude to a royal, who she may soon be protecting if she got into the guard.
