Annie sat by the edge of the lake, she was supposed to be at school, but, that was one of the last places she wanted to be. Her farther, the hero that was known for miles around for his race acts of heroism and sometimes stupid stunts that ended up aiding in some brilliant defeat of some evil monster..

Yeah..monsters....Sir Daniel Fortesque. She was his daughter, she carried so much pressure on her shoulders to carry down into the next generation, she had to be just as good as her pa, but when she was born and show to the hall of heros, not everyone was pleased

'A girl being the next hero? Preposterous!!'

They said, they said a little girl like Annie couldn't grow into a warrior as good as her dad, they said that she needed to leave the acts of heroism to the grown ups, that she should just stick to her crating drawings and helping mother at home were it was safe.

Annie sighed, she had been drawing away in her small notebook, trying to forget about the worries of shook and gone for maybe a little bit, a nearby bird came and settlers beside her on a nearby stump of an old oak tree, Annie slowly looked towards it

"Hey there..." she greeted glumly "If birds have school, stay away.." she looked back down at her drawing book "Its not worth it..."

SPLASH

Annie bolted at the sudden sound of the surface of the water breaking, the bird had flown off in a flurry of feathers, Annie quickly packed her journal into her small school satchel, she carefully crawled her way into the reads by the edge of the lake and peered out towards the right

"Damn fish!! I missed it!!" It was a bunch of boys from Annie's school, they were in the class above her so they were probably a few years older then her , the biggest boy, who must have been the leader of the three of them, picked up another small stone and threw it out into he water, just in time for a decently sized fish to disappear under he surface.

"Missed again!!" The boy stomped his foot in annoyance "Come on help me find another!!" Annie scowled at them, what did the fish do to them?! It was just a poor little fish the thing couldn't fight back even if it wanted to!! Annie figured that staying would only get her into trouble

"EEP!!!"

Annie swung her legs and arms around as she suddenly felt herself being lifted off the ground by the scruff of light brown shawl "Well, well, well..." the lead boy asked "Looks like we've got ourselves a spy." Annie shivered and pulled her bag closer to her "Didn't your farther ever teach you not to ease drop?!"

The boy snatched the bag from Annie, the strap breaking instantly at the sudden harsh tug on the fabric "H-Hey!!" Annie reached her small hands out towards her half, the boy smirked and held it out of her reach easily "Give it back!! It's mine!!"

The boy did nothing but give a howl of laughter as he threw Annie to the floor, she whimpered and held a hand to her arm, she watched helplessly as the boys began to shake the contents of her back onto the muddy floor. One of the boys took notice of the small leather journal "Hmm?" He lifted up the journal

"What's this then?" Annie went to tell them stop but her voice wouldn't work, her words were caught in her throats as they opened the book, they looked over the pages and snickered and laughed, occasionally whispering and passing a look at Annie "You're still drawing your imaginary friend?!"

He showed her one of the pages in the book, a messy watercolour painting of a red skinny legged fox like creature with green wings took up the whole of the page "What are you 4?" Annie sniffled, fighting back the tears. "He is real!!! He isn't imaginary!!!"

The boy chuckled "Sure, right boys, what is he your little pet?" He howled with laughter, hoping to make his friends join in with him, Annie sniffled again as her eyes began to swell with tears "Foxy isn't my pet!! He belongs to no one!!"

He laughed again, trying to get his two pals to join him. The said two friends, who had been staring on in silence until now finally spoke up

"Dude, chill out, hat farther is Sir Daniel Fortesque."

"Really? This pathetic shrub is related to a hero?!" The boy almost cried with laughter "That's the best thing yet!!" Annie remained frozen on the floor, tears falling from her face like a free flowing river.

"Seriously, stop it."

The leader of the group growled a little and turned to them "Come on!! It's just a little fun!!!" He turned back to Annie, chucking the book down at her, the book landed on the open page that he and his friends had been laughing at, Annie weakly closed the book and pulled it close to her chest

"You really are pathetic!!" He cocked a brow at her "Do you really think that you will EVER be as good and heroic as your dad?" He didn't give her time to answer "PSSH!! Of course you won't!! You never will be!!!" He kicked the broken bag to her, she sniffled and picked it up, mud dripping from the soaked fabric.

"Honestly..." the boy rolled his eyes, he looked down at her, a smirk on his face "Just give up...You'll never be l-"

GROWL

The light from the sun was suddenly blocked by a mass of dark grey clouds, the nearby animals all scurried along the floor like a virus, frantically climbing up trees and hiding in the bushes as a seemingly endless shadow fell upon Annie and the three boys, a cold wind began to blow violently, ripping loose leaves off their holdings on the branches

The wind became a long echoing howl, thunder dooming deeply inside the clouds above, the leader of the boys looked around, trying to mask his fear "W-What's happe-" he suddenly saw a creature so terrifying that it froze the very blood of him and his other two

"W-What is that thing?!" A tall slender red furred like fox creature was standing over Annie, his eyes seeming to glow a grimacing red at the boys, a low growl from his through, his fur on his shoulders and neck raised as two Green bat like wings were raised slightly.

Annie stayed wear she was, too frightened to move, the fox creature looked down at her briefly, "W-What are you?!!" One of the boys hurried to find some kind of weapon for defence, his eyes landed on a decently sized stick that by his side, he looked at the creature and quickly grabbed the stick

The creature didn't so much as flinch, with shaking hands he raised the stick over his head to try and look intimidating. "D-Don't you dare try and attack us!!! Y-You do and...w-we'll scream for help!!" The creature gave a low dark chuckle

It slowly creaked up to them on all fours, it's tail growing longer as it walked, despite its harsh and cold appearance it gently curled its tail round Annie, she wiped at her tears as the large fox came to a hault in front of the three boys, they shivered like a sparrow would with the eagle and a mouse with the cat.

It leaned down right in close to the leaders face before saying a simple.

"Boo."

The boys didn't need to hear it a second time, they had ran for the hills, the stick dropping the the floor with a thud as they gradually disappear out of sight. As soon as they were gone the dark clouds disappeared into nothing and the sun relight the sky, he foxes eyes returned back to normal.

"Annie."

He turned round and walked over to her, his miss-coloured yellow and red eyes looking at her with a little bit of sympathy, he sat down next to her, his tail still round her. "I don't think you'll be getting any more trouble from th-"
Foxy hummed at a pair of small arms suddenly wrapping round his skinny waist, he looked down at Annie

A smile on her face as she sniffled and hiccuped into his crimson fur, Foxy slowly offered several pats to the head. However, even though his expression suggested otherwise, he was smiling on the inside

"Sheesh, and you call me a drama queen."
