Annabeth's POV

I knew I shouldn't've have come.

My face contorted into a look of pure regret once we had sight of the group.

Percy.

He's different. Not just physically, but I could see the happiness that radiated off him.

And he was like this without me, so since when did I think that he relied on me as much as I relied on him.

Piper noticed my change in character.

"You okay?" I didn't look at her, my gaze settled on the face framed by a mop of black hair.

"No..." I mumbled. "No..."

"Annabeth?" She came to a stop, gently tugging me to one too.

"I can't..." I kept mumbling nonsense and she became more and more confused.

Percy doesn't need me. Percy's fine without me. Percy was weighed down by me.

I should leave.

But I don't. Because I was doing this for Piper. And I couldn't keep letting her down because I let my past get in the way.

So, I sucked it up, putting on an emotionless face and nodded.

"Sorry, yeah I'm fine."

Heyyyyyy don't hate meeeee.
