Annabeth's POV
I didn't want to be here. I longed to stay in solitude and keep to myself, but I had made a friend. A friend who will support me.
I wouldn't let her down.
So I laughed when everyone else laughed, smiled when everyone else smiled, and kept my mask up.
A mask was filled with as much fakeness as I was filled with sorrow.
Piper seemed happy. So I went with it.
At the end of the day, she invited me again, saying everyone had enjoyed my company. Her smiled was filled with so much joy.
I wanted that joy.
So I agreed.

Luke was waiting outside the dorms. Piper went in easily, but he stopped me.
"I called you, why didn't you answer?"
"I was out with friends."
"You have friends? That's surprising. They're just using you, just as that girl that you were with was."
And I believed him. I always go along with what he says because Luke is my life.
I didn't want out of this toxic relationship, because he's the one who's given me happiness. I was empty in the first place.
I love him.
