Seven year time skip at the beginning

Soft pants and moans spaced apart, their heat cooling down. His hands gently caressed her hips, holding her close to himself.
"Mm... Takashi..." She sighed happily as soft, long kisses trailed down her neck. She smiled, closing her eyes and tilting her head back.
"Katherine... You're so beautiful." He murmured against her pale skin.
"So I'm told." The green paladin mused, placing her hand over the nape of his neck. Shiro chuckled, rolling off of her. He gently pulled her onto his chest, pulling up the covers. "I love you so much, Takashi."
Shiro smiled softly, watching as she nuzzled into his chest. She traced little circles into his chest, humming giddily. He chuckled, causing her to giggle.
Katie propped herself up on his chest, looking down to him. He watched as her chestnut hair fell out of place and framed her face. "I love you. I love you, lots."
He hummed, taking her left hand. "I love you, too, baby girl." Shiro gently twisted the amber colored ring on her finger. Her smile softened, watching him. "My wife..."
She giggled more, biting her lip as she gazed into his eyes. "My big, goofy husband."
The black paladin grinned up at her. "I'm proud of that, you know. I'm not easily offended."
Katie laughed, dropping her head back onto his chest. "I know, I know."
"You, however, are easy to offend."
She raised her head, cocking a brow. "Oh, yeah? Prove it."
Shiro gently pinched her abdomen. "I think you've been eating more than usual."
Katie huffed, but smiled. "Yeah, I'm easily offended."
"But you love me."
"Yeah, I love you."
He rubbed his thumb over her soft skin, sighing softly. Before she asked what was wrong, realization fell over her and she saddened as well.
Shiro breathed deeply. "It's been over a year, but... I still miss them."
Katie nodded, taking his hand. "I miss them, too... If I ever let my mind wonder... I end up thinking about what could have been if I just stayed here..."
"It's not your fault." Shiro murmured, running his thumb over her knuckles. "You just felt like you had to help... You wanted to do your job... You didn't know- none of us knew that would happen..."
The green paladin teared up and nodded. Shiro cupped her face and ran his thumb under her eye. "It's okay... We'll try again when you're ready, baby girl." She nodded, trying a small smile. He smiled back. "I love you so much..."
"I love you, too..."

Katie leaned on him, head resting just below his shoulder as her tiny hands tried to envelope his bionic one. Shiro smiled down at her, even though he should be listening to Allura and Kolivan.
