Remember, everyone is 17-18 in the beginningShiro was often told he'd be an Alpha. He wasn't quite as sure as them, though. He wasn't going to be an Omega, though. That he knew. I mean, unless there was a mix-up- which there never was in the project. Everything was to be precice. No room for error.
But, Shiro didn't think he would make it. He's broken. Tortured by nightmares and constant reminders of his capture.
His right arm was replaced by cybernetics and functions just like a normal arm, aside from the fact that he can't feel anything. The scar across the bridge of his nose was jagged and -he thought- an eye sore. So was the shock of white in his hair.
Aside from these physical deformities, he had severe PTSD. What Omega would want to deal with that constantly for the rest of their lives? It sure enough gave his mom and dad plenty of stress.
Shiro jumped as his name was called, but he straightened his shoulders and walked stiffly up to the podium. He glanced to his parents in the bleachers, both grinning proudly.
His mom bounced and giggled, giving him two thumbs-up. Her raven black hair tumbled over her small shoulders, her dress plain but pretty. His dad had her arm thrown over his mom's, her grin bright and wide. Her dark gray eyes gleamed with pride, her graying auburn hair pulled up into a neat military bun.
He smiled and waved slightly to them before turning back and picking up the pace. Shiro's smile widened as he reached for his diploma and the older man's hand.
"Takashi Shirogane has been selected for the Alpha Omega project! Congratulations, my boy!"
Shiro stiffened and blinked, but nodded, shaking his hand. "Thank you, sir."

Saying goodbye to his parents was hard. His mom was crying, being the emotional person she was. She kept pulling him down to kiss his forehead, fixing his hair, going over his checklist, and straightening his shirt out before his dad finally ushered her to the side.
"Bye, Takashi." She hummed, kissing his forehead much softer than his mother had. "You be a good man, alright?"
"I know, dad." He mused, squeezing her hand as she took his. "I'll also take my pills everyday, check and charge my arm, keep busy, yah-da, yah-da."
She chuckled, patting his arm. "That's my boy. Now get before you miss the damn bus, boy."

The bus ride was pretty quiet. Other graduates from his class chatted softly from their seats. Shiro checked above him to make sure his luggage was secure, though he's already done that about a dozen times now.
He glanced over to the teen beside him and smiled.
"Wow... It's huge..." Keith muttered, slumping his shoulders.
Shiro chuckled. "Yeah. It's gotta be. Our graduating class was almost a thousand. Not quite, but almost."
Keith rolled his eyes and nudged Shiro as he sat back down. "I know, dweeb. I was there." Shiro laughed softly.
