Soul mate AU!

Shiro sighed as he rolled onto his back, staring at the ceiling. Glowing stars and planets littered his ceiling and the fan. He climbed out of his bed and trotted quietly across the carpet to his bedroom door.

He peeked down either side of the hallway, then closed his door again. Shiro winced as he flicked on the light. He shuffled over to his coloring kit and pulled out his favorite black marker. Shiro grinned as he crawled back up on to his bed, then pulled up his pajama sleeves.

The little boy giggled at the messy markings on his skin that just continued up his arms. He peeked down his shirt and squeaked happily.

Shiro popped off the cap to his marker and held out his left arm. He stuck his tongue out and concentrated on writing nicely. Shiro grinned. His soul mate stopped marking their belly. Shiro's expression brightened. She must be reading it! He thought excitedly.

Then he pouted as it began to fade away. He peeked into his shirt again to see the red and green and blue markings all being washed away.

Shiro sat and waited for a couple minutes, then smiled as his arm tingled.

'Go to sleep, soul mate.'

It read. It was a little sloppy, but Shiro knew that his younger soul mate must have had help from their parents to write that.

'Ok night'

He wrote back, then gasped as his door opened.

His mother smiled warmly. "Takashi, you should be sleeping."

Shiro grinned and slid off his bed. "Sorry, mom. But my soul mate was drawling again."

"It's 'drawing' sweetie."

"Right, right." Shiro nodded. "But I just said night, so I'm going to sleep now."

His mother crouched down in front of him and kissed his forehead. "Alright. Sweet dreams, Shiro."

"You, too, mom."

"Everybody take cover!" Shiro shouted, arching his arm up, then dropping to the ground. He huffed and grunted, urging his fellow soldiers along. "Shit, shit..." He hissed under his breath, gasping as another bomb exploded. "Fuck! Matthew!"

Matthew looked up, then scampered over quickly. "Bunker?"

"Hell yes, the damn bunker!" Shiro shouted, scrambling to his feet and running alongside Matthew.

Both skidded inside the bunker and leaned against the wall. "Fuck..." Shiro panted, then blinked. He rolled up his sleeve and chuckled.

Matthew licked his lips, looking over to Shiro. "What?"

Shiro raised his arm. "My soul mate is taking notes again."

"Ah, man." Matthew laughed with a big grin. "My soul mate keeps using sparkly pink pens. How the fuck am I supposed to be threatening with a sparkly pink heart on my cheek?"

"Ask her to stop?"

"I ain't got the guts for that, man." Matthew huffed nudging Shiro. "Just like you ain't got the guts to tell your soul mate to stop writing notes."
