The taller knight chuckled, folding his arms over his chest. "Guard the prince."
Keith narrowed his eyes. "You've got to be shitting me."
Shiro then laughed boisterously. "Nope! Not one bit! The princess herself said she wants it to be you."
"Why me!? Why do I have to do the babysitting!?"
The black knight shook his head and patted Keith's. The red knight huffed and swatted at him. "It's not babysitting, Keith. You're protecting the prince. It won't even be for that long."
Keith glared at the floor, furiously crossing his arms. "But why me? Can't Hunk do it?"
Shiro rolled his eyes. "Hunk is tending to family matters. Before you suggest Matthew or Katie, they're also tending family matters."
The red knight sighed. "And you have other knightly duties to attend, I assume."
"No, not really." Shiro mused and the younger knight squawked indignantly. "I'm only joking, Keith. Settle down. I'll be journeying with you."
Keith sighed and relaxed. "Okay... When does it start?"

"Tomorrow at the break of dawn."
Keith choked on his wine while Shiro paused mid-bite.
"What!?" Keith yelped. "Why did we not get further notice!?"
The princess sighed, placing her hands in her lap. "It is news to I as well. I do wish it was I to go, but I am tied to my duties here. I nearly canceled until my brother volunteered to go in my place."
Keith set his cup down and rubbed his face. The black knight hummed. "Well, we will be ready, princess Allura. We promise to serve the Prince as we serve you."
Allura smiled as she also stood. "I'm glad, Shiro."

"I hear he hates me." Keith huffed.
Shiro chuckled. "He doesn't even personally know you."
"Who doesn't personally know Keith?"
"Pidge?" Keith pivoted as best he could as he tied his shin guards. "Shouldn't you be with your family?"
The green knight snorted and crossed her arms over her chest. "I was, but I wasn't going to let you go through Olkari without me. To hell with that. Suck my dick if you think I wouldn't figure out your path to the Galran Empire."
Shiro laughed and wrapped his flesh arm around Pidge. "I'm glad you could come."
Pidge grinned, then gestured behind her. "Hope you don't mind if I brought a friend."
