"Fuck your chicken strips, man!"

Keith blinked, confused for a moment, then looked up.

"Dude, you promised me you'd come! And now you're going to skip out on me for chicken strips!?" A Latino teen shouted to his best friend.

Keith rolled his eyes and shook his head.

Lance McClain. An obnoxious idiot. Heard five classrooms over. Everyone knew him, and almost no one really liked him. He was loud, full of himself, nosy, and thought he was absolutely perfect.

Keith personally didn't like Lance, though has never had a conversation with him. He's heard plenty of rumors about Lance, and not one was good.

As far as Keith could tell, the only people that actually liked Lance were Hunk and Pidge, the two smartest kids in school.

The Korean-American sighed and picked up his tray.

"Look, okay, if it means that much to you, I'll come."

"No. Go to your stupid chicken strips."

"Lance, I'm coming. I'll get chicken strips some other time."

"Ya mean it, buddy?"

"Yeah. I promised I'd come, so I'm coming."

The grin that spread across Lance's face was stunning. Keith shook his head and walked across the cafeteria. Stupid.

"Shiro, do I have to?" Keith groaned as his neighbor of fifteen years dragged him out if the house.

"Uhm, yes. Yes, you do." Shiro huffed, shoving Keith into the car. "You're going to this meet like we agreed. Allura, make-up."

"Make-up!?" Keith shrieked, as Allura - Shiro's girlfriend of two years - whipped out her sparkly pink make-up bag. "Hell no!"

Shiro rolled his eyes, forcing Keith back into the seat and buckling him in like a child. "Calm down. Rules are; no masks, but no identity. So, we cover our faces kind of like masks, but it's just paint on your face."

Keith scrunched his nose as the older woman pinched his face in her hand to force him to face her. "That doesn't help, asshole."

The older man laughed, starting the car. "Calm down, man. It's too late to back out."

"Fuck you."

"Hey, watch it. He's got a girlfriend and she's got a whole kit of potential weapons in her lap."

"Right, right. Sorry, Allura."

~

Keith tried not to poke at his face once Allura was done. She grinned giddily and held up a mirror. "Look!"

The twen huffed, but looked. He blinked, then hummed. "I like it. It's red, though."

Allura giggled, tugging on Keith's hoodie. "To match. Mine is pink, and Shiro's is black." As she explained, Allura climbed into the passenger seat with her make-up bag. "No, don't distract me, or I'll kick you out of the moving car."

Keith held up his hands in surrender, then pulled his hair back into a hairtie.

~

Keith could hear the music as they pulled up. He studied the graffiti littering the abandoned building.

Well, supposedly abandoned building.

Shiro got out and tapped Keith's shoulder once he was out as well. "Inside, address Allura and I by our nicknames. I'm Black Paladin and Allura is Princess."
