Falling in Love (Alexander X Reader)

Chapter 30:

"Your dad wants to see you", Finn announced. Turning bright red looking at me and Alexander. "It's not what it looks like", I told him. "Whatever", Finn walked away. What did dad want? I walked towards dad's tent and entered. "You wanted to speak to me?", I asked as I saw him look away from a map. "Yes, listen. I know that you want to not be a typical girl and stay at home, depending on a husband. But that's exactly what you need. You need a husband. Soon that age is going to come where you can't marry anymore. And you need a husband to get money so you don't end up on the streets. I just want what's best for you". My palms started to sweat, "What are you saying?". "You should really marry Finn. Look, he's a good guy, and comes from a very rich family", my father suggested. "I'm sorry but I love someone else", I argued. "Oo~ who?", my father teased. "You'll see just you wait", I defend, "rich or poor, we are in love". "Well, Whatever makes you happy is fine by me. I won't be that kind of parent to force you to marry someone. As long as you love him", my father started to tear up, "I can't wait to meet him" "Oh, come on! We have a war to finish. Let's go", I tried to change the topic.

We got out of the tent to enter complete chaos. I knew I was most likely gonna die, but who didn't think the same as me? I grabbed my gun and aimed for a red coat. He immediately fell to the ground. I joined back up with Alexander, "Good morning", I try to lighten the mood.

"I wouldn't call it a good morning, but close enough", Alexander remarked.

"What did you want me to say? Bad morning?", I asked.

"How about 'Alexander, I love you! I want you to marry me and sweep me off my feet'", he joked.

"Haha, very funny", I sarcastically laughed.

"What? You don't love me?", Alexander looked at me with pity in his eyes.

"Of course I do, but no offense, this is not the time", I pointed out.

We kept fighting and luckily, we made it through the day. We looked at each other's faces, they were covered in blood, sweat, and dirt. Though Laffayette, Laurens, and Mulligan weren't here with us at camp, I didn't feel lonely, and it was all thanks to Alexander. We went towards the bar as the sun went down and the stars started to show off their light and the moon beamed bright. There were no clouds to cover the light that shown. I could see all the dead bodies in the light. We went to the bartender and ordered our drinks.

"Two beers, please", Alexander asked.

"Coming right up", the bartender left to get the drinks.

We went to go sit down at the bar, he passed us the drinks.

"So, you guys are soldiers?", the bartender asked.

"Yep", I chimed in.

"Aren't you a woman?", he asked.

"Is there a problem with a woman being a soldier?", I answered the question with a question.
"Well, I mean. You should be somewhere off with a wealthy husband and beautiful children at home", the bartender pointed out.
"Women should be treated equally along with men. One day, I'm gonna meet Thomas Jefferson and ask him to include women in the sequel", I vowed.
"That's cute but you got a long shot of meeting him", the bartender smirked.
"I am not throwing away my shot. Just you wait", I finished my drink and slammed it on the table. I walked off and Alexander followed me. "I don't see why men think of women in such a way", I argued. "Well, I think you should go for it. You shouldn't wait for it. Men only see in black and white. You see in color, that's what makes you special, Y/n", Alexander supported me, I know that he is perfect. "You always know what to say. And that is why I want to marry you", I blurted, on purpose. He looked at me wide eyed. "Really?!", Alexander asked. "Definitely", I reach out to grab his hand. He pulls in to kiss me and we enjoy each moment of it. "We should get married if the war ends soon. Or get married by Sunday and-", he started to blabber. "There's no need to rush Alexander. And leave the planning to later. I just want to enjoy this moment alone with you", I squeeze his hand and we sit down to gaze at the stars...
