Y/n's POV:
"Please! Don't leave!" Alexander grasped my arm after chasing me and finally catching up. "At least tell me where you're going so I know you won't cheat on me."I scoffed. "Oh, so I won't cheat on you?" I emphasized 'I'. I was ready to tell him about my time with Thomas. "I'm going to Virginia." I started walking again.
"Look around, look around at how lucky we are to be alive right now." He hugged my waist and sang. He used my own words against me. I felt no longer as angry as I was before.
"But look at where we are. Look we we started. The fact that we're both alive is a damn miracle. Let's try to stay alive. That would be nice. But I need time. And you should too. Bond with your kids, Alexander. That would be enough. Even though I feel betrayed, I will be right back." I assured. I kept walking as he let go of my waist.
"Take care mi amor." He sighed. "I love you." I turned back to look at him and continued to walk.
I took a carriage downtown to get some things like paper and ink. People gave me unusual glares and whispered to one another.I gave the cashier money and she looked at me sympathetically.
"Are you alright?" She frowned.
"Why wouldn't I be?" I asked, taking my purchased items.
"Your husband is the talk of the city." She answered.
"Don't worry about me." I smiled and walked away. I walked towards my carriage when a man approached me. He gave me money and I was so confused.
"What's this for?" I asked.
"You and me tonight?" He snickered, grabbing my waist. His friends started laughing too.
"Let me go!" I struggled against his grasp.
"What's wrong? If your slut husband is sleeping with other women why wouldn't you?" He chuckled. I still struggled, trying to get away.
"Stop!" A man wrestled him to the ground. He looked familiar but I couldn't understand why. He looked a lot like
Finn, but with a beard.
"If you ever touch her again, I will not hesitate to beat your ass up!" He threatened as the man skimpered away.
I hugged him.
"It's been so long old friend." I smiled. People went back to their normal lives, but kept whispering to each other. We went to a nearby cafe and sat down."How have you been?" I asked.
"Very well, I settled down and have five kids, another one on the way. I still work in the newspapers." He informed me. "I'm so sorry about what happened with your husband and that Maria chick." He touched my hand.
"It's nothing. I'll get over it...eventually." I sighed.
"But what he did was not right." Finn admitted. "You deserve better than that."
"Thank you." I beamed. He looked down under the table.
"I don't mean to be a pest, but I noticed you have a suitcase with you. Where are you headed?" He asked.
"I'm gonna go spend some time with my parents. I need to get away from the city and all the drama for a while. I heard recently from my mother that my father has been feeling a bit under the weather. I'm going to spend time with them as much as I can. I hate to say this, but I think he's dying." I explained.
"Well, I shouldn't hold you up. I'll see you around Y/n. My wife needs me, she has a fever." He stood up. "Bye." He waved.
"Bye Finn." I waved back. I headed towards my carriage and sat down.
"Where to madam?" The driver asked.
"Mount Vernon, please." I answered.
