Authors note: Before I begin, my dearest apologies for not publishing for the longest time. I just started high school and the homework has been occupying my time.
Also. I screwed up. I forgot that all this went down while Hamilton was still in the cabinet, but bear with me.

Alexander's POV:
I sat in my home, writing words upon words. I hear a knock on the door.

Y/n's POV:
I hear a knock on the front door and go to open it. There stands Thomas Jefferson, James Madison, and Aaron Burr.
"Ah, Y/n. It's been a while seen we last saw each other." Thomas kissed my hand. "May we come in? We must speak to Alexander. It's about work."
"I thought he got fired." I replied.
"But it's a very important, urgent manner." Burr spoke up.
"Well, when you put it that way. You may come in." I knew Thomas was a mortal enemy to Alexander. They fought like cats and dogs. I lead them in and they all walked upstairs. To Alexander's office.

Alexander's POV:
I heard a knock on my office door. I thought it was Y/n convincing me to take a break.
"Come in." I said, not looking up from my paper. I heard the door open and didn't look up from my paper still.
"Y/n, dear, don't worry about me. If you want, I'll give you 5 minutes of my time and full attention." I still worked on my paper.
"That's no way to treat your wife. Especially a beautiful one." I heard a familiar male voice.
"Mr. Vice President, Mr. Madison, Senator Burr. What is this?" I asked. Looking to see he brought Burr and Madison with him.
"We have the check stubs. From separate accounts." Jefferson started.
"Almost a thousand dollars, paid in different amounts." Madison continued.
"To a Mr. James Reynolds way back in seventeen ninety-one." Burr spoke.
"Is that what you have? Are you done?" I smirked.
"And the evidence suggests you've engaged in speculation." Jefferson mentioned.
"An immigrant embezzling government funds." Burr assumed.
"I can almost see the headlines. You'll never find a job again." Jefferson and Madison taunted.
"I hope you saved some money for your daughter and sons." Burr suggested.
"Ha! You don't even know what you're asking me to confess." I stopped them.
"Confess." They all exclaimed in unison.
"You have nothing. I don't have to tell you anything. Unless." I thought for a minute. Will this ruin me? How would Y/n react. I'm willing to sacrifice everything if it meant I could get my job back.
"Unless?" They all questioned.
"If I proved that I never broke the law, can you promise me a job back in the cabinet? And never tell another living soul what you saw?" I persuaded.
"No one else was in the room where it happened." I heard Burr mutter.
"Is that a yes?" I asked.
"Ummmm, Yes." They all agreed. I pulled out the letter and handed it to Jefferson.
"Dear Sir-" He started. But I covered his mouth.
"Y/n's in the house. Don't read it too loud or she might hear. And there's children in this house, I don't need them to live their lives scarred. So watch your mouth." I uncovered his mouth.
"Bite my thumb, Alexander." He stuck his tongue out at me. (Bite my thumb is Shakespearean for flipping someone off.)
"Since Hamilton is so cautious of me, here Burr. Read it." He have the letter to Burr.
"Dear Sir, I hope this letter finds you in good health and in a prosperous enough position to put wealth. In the pockets of people like me down on their luck, you see that was my wife you decided to-" Burr read.
"Wwwhhhhaaaaa???" Jefferson cut him off and stared at the letter from Burr's shoulder.
"She courted me, escorted me to bed and when she had me in a corner. That's when Reynolds extorted me, for a sordid fee. I paid him quarterly. I may have mortally wounded my prospects. But my papers are orderly!
As you can see I kept a record of every check in my checkered. History. Check it again against your list n' see consistency. I never spent a cent that wasn't mine. You sent the dogs after my scent, that's fine. Yes, I have reasons for shame, but I have not committed treason and sullied my good name. As you can see I have done nothing to provoke legal action. Are my answers to your satisfaction?" I explained to them.
Everyone looked flabbergasted.
"My God Hamilton." Jefferson broke the silence.
"So?" I questioned.
"The people won't know what we know." Jefferson and Madison assured me.
"Burr? How do I know you won't use this against me the next time we're toe to toe?" I asked.
"Alexander, rumors only grow. And we both know what we know." Burr left.
I went back to writing. I heard footsteps walk towards me. It was Jefferson.
"I can't believe you cheated on Y/n. She will be crushed if she ever finds out. You should realize how lucky you are to have her. So if I find out you hurt her, emotionally or physically. I will come after you." He warned.
"Why do you care so much about MY wife?" I asked.
"Before she was your friend, she was mine." He walked out.
Y/n's POV:
Burr and Madison walked down the stairs. I wonder what they were talking about.
"Where's Jefferson?" I questioned.
"Went back to talk to Hamilton about something." Madison vaguely informed me.
Jefferson walked down the stairs.
"Care for some tea?" I offered.
"Y/n, I would love to stay but I have important things to do. It was nice visiting you and your family. Stay well. Make sure Hamilton treats you well. Send my regards to Washington for me next time you see him." Jefferson paced towards me and kissed my hand.
"I will. Till we meet again." I said. Madison cleared his throat. Then coughed into his handkerchief.
"Bye." He walked out the door with Burr and Madison following him.
"Mr. Burr, Sir." I called out. He stopped at the doorway.
"Yes?" He pivoted to look in my direction.
"It's been so long, how are the Theodosias?" I asked.
"As a matter of fact, my wife has taken ill." He informed me.
"I'm not surprised. What with the chill. You'll send her our regards." I commented.
"I will." He smiled.
"And how's your daughter?" I questioned.
"She's my pride of joy. Fluent in French and Latin!" He bragged.
"So is Philip."
"She's the same age as your boy." He mentioned.
"Send your girls our love. And hold on." I went to the kitchen to get something. "This should help her with her illness." I handed him a jar of honey.
"Thank you. I should get going." He took his leave.
